Boston Celtics great Bill Russell has passed away at 88. 13 Championship rings,the only player I remember that could handle Wilt Chamberlain.

During the '68-'69 season I saw the Celtics play the Royals three times at the old Cincinnati Gardens. Connie Dierking had his hands more than full with Bill.

We lost all three.

I got to meet Bill Rusell after his lecture at my college.

I recall next to nothing of any pro basketball I watched when I was a youngster, but I'll never forget Russell blocking one of Chamberlain's dunk shots. Pretty impressive! (but humiliating for Chamberlain)
