CA is an amazing and stunning state.
The cities and other stuff only account for a very small amount of land

True, however, the policies of Sacramento affect the whole state. In the '90s San Clemente, San Juan Cap, Dana Point etc were great places to live. I bailed in '13 and doubt I would recognize OC today. California has a cancer and it's spreading quickly. As much as I love the vast natural beauty of the state, I'm afraid I'll never set foot there again.
