After reading reports of its performance in large capacity revolvers, I picked up a jug in Cabelas and loaded it under 240 LSWC bullets.
Makes a well-compressed load, 115% according to their chart.
Was testing midrange loads for bowling pin shooting at my club.
Interesting to shoot, for someone with no BP experience.
Shot is more of a BOOM than the usual 44 Mag CRACK, and recoil is a push. A pretty nice smoke cloud, smelling sort of BPish and some sparks adding to the fun.
But the best part is - its accurate, 10 ring accurate at 25 yards offhand and one hole accurate at 10.
The revolver never bound up or had any hickups shooting 60 rounds of it.
And, I'll never call Unique dirty ever again:

Note added: Fouling is certainly different. KROIL would barely touch it.
M-Pro 7 worked best by far for cleanup. A bit of bronze wool in the bad spots helped, too.

Quite a few of the shooters here use it as a "Fun load" every
now and then.
The smoke, smell and noise is just some thing you have to do to
see what you are missing..........

and yes it can be very accurate.

Thanks for the post.

You might want to try some black powder cleaner.
They are more of a soap, water and some fat type concoction.
I use it for my Winchester 10 ga. cannon.
Make sure you clean the inside of the gun.
The residue can rust the steel parts.

Their FAQs emphatically warn against using any sort of water-based blackpowder cleaning concoction.

I thought with blackhorn is wasn't recommended for revolvers because it was recommended with shotgun primers.

I use B209 in my muzzle-loaders. Yes it is cleaner than real black powder or Pyrodex, but still needs to be cleaned well after use.

I think I'd use Trail Boss if I wanted that type of loading for a cartridge handgun.

Thanks for correcting me about the 209 cleaner.
I have only used black powder and spoke out of ignorance.

I've thought of trying some with .45 Colt in a Ruger Blackhawk but was concerned with rust inside. It's not impossible to take one apart but it's not something I would want to do every single time I shoot either. I have stuck with Trail Boss so far.

I wish I hadn't read this thread. You guys have got me thinking. (That's a dangerous thing, just ask my wife.) I've got a couple cartridges and guns that would be fun with a load of Triple 7. I do shoot 38-55 with Triple 7, perhaps 45 Colt and 44 Russian? Hmmmmm :)
