So a fellow member here got me his set of Ahrends and although I didn't get good daylight yesterday, I took some pics anyways for us to look at. Very smooth, more for presentation and MUCH better looking than the Hogues, lol! They have the Tung Oil finish and give off a very rich depth and contrast in the grain. Really, really nice in person. Thanks again mike56!

Very nice! It looks like you have the retro targets. I have these on my Md 681 and they are absolutely perfect for my medium sized hand.

I've been tempted by the Ahrends maple grips for some time now. However, I think I prefer the ones that are stained in red or brown over the light natural maple. It's just my humble opinion, but I feel stainless steel needs a bit of color for the stocks.

Hey loeman, I was watching a few pairs of stained Ahrends on fleebay with finger grooves and was teeterin' on buying them, then saw mike56's post and he made sure the price was right and I decided to try these first. I am sure this will not be my last pair of Ahrends now. Trust me, I tried to get a decent set of rich colored factory N-frame target stocks because I do like checkering, too, but kept getting outbid after like $90; I am not like some here on this forum(so I have read), YET, where I see over $100 in "value" on a set of factory stocks. Older/vintage grips like diamonds, sure, but I was born in 76 and I don't consider myself vintage so neither are 1980 S&W grips in my book, lol.

Oh yeah, a 681 is on my short list as well :)

Very nice, you had me at blondes! Although, a set of grips wasn't exactly what I was looking for :D

Lol, sorry Hoosier45, I was actually thinking of a frosty adult beverage in a blonde ale when I wrote it, but it's warm out here in AZ, doing a bunch of demo work on my bosses new house for renovations in the afternoon after my regular job and I am very, very happy with my brunette, Mrs. 4"44's :D

Well of course I meant I nice cold blonde ale. Since you're out west you might even have access to one of my favorite blonde ales from Mission Brewing Company in San Diego... Or Lagunitas IPA.

Well, I do happen to be a San Diego Native, actually. Born-N-Raised East County Boy....had a-few-a-brew in my days, lol. Mission Brewing Co is delicious!

Beautifully stocked 44, I really like the light colored wood on stainless. Most of my 629's are stocked in darker wood, I'm going to need a pair of maple grips now. But that's ok because one pair of Arends quickly turns to more. Here's an old photo of some of mine

I really like Ahern's cordia wood (perfect balance of lite and dark). Have Ahern's cocobolo boot grips for my 629 and going to get some cordia boot grips for my 19 2.5.

Hmm, I'll have to check into that type. I did recently notice his Boot Grips as well, very tempting!

The "blonde" Ahrend's are his fiddle back maple?
And I thought the dark red and black cocobolo I ordered for my model 58 looked good. I was thinking of ordering some Retro Targets, the maple may just be the ticket.
Nice grips!
Gary

If I can't have my blondes on satin -- and I think those days are over, if they were ever there to begin with -- then blondes on stainless is definitely my second choice now! ;):D

Nice pics. Enjoy!

I was hoping for Lonnie Anderson but, the grips are, by themselves, beautiful!
