I just read a short recounting of Samuel Chamberlain and his service in the Mexican War. It also mentioned his murdering days with the Glanton gang and Judge Holden, who by all accounts was the devil incarnate. Cormac McCarthy used this as the basis for the subject novel. It is now in mu shopping cart on amazon.

Has anyone read this?

I try to at least yearly. Many say it is the greatest novel of the 20th Century.
