I purchased a model 25-15 Classic, 6.5" barrel, blue, new in 2016. Thinking of thinning the herd, I checked the Blue Book, and it gave me values of $3675 for 100%, 3150 for 98 % (which is the condition I would assign to mine), and 2,855 for 95%. I swallowed twice, took it to Cabela's, and they offered me $550. Could the Blue Book be referring to a vintage model? Or is it just a big mistake on their part? What would be a reasonable asking price on a m25-15, lightly used but never abused, (and the wooden grips were never used, I put a pair of Pachmayrs on)?

There are brand new 25-15's on G.B. for around $1100. I paid $750 for mine in 2015 LNIB. Would never part with mine. Bob

Ha! not surprising Cabelas offered you peanuts. Bet they would try to get triple what they offered you! We all know how those places work.

On the other hand! Cabela's gun people usually don't know beans about revolvers! They have the exact same reference book you do and were trying to cheat you!

Go to Gunbroker "Completed Auctions" and do a search. You can see what they actually sell for there. Sometimes it surprises you for what the real world is all about!

All Dealers work under the same philosophy.....Buy low and sell high. They have overhead (employees who want money, light and water bills, taxes and other assorted costs that are factored in). So who is going to get hosed? You on either end buying or selling.

The Standard Catalog doesn't even give half that value to ANIB examples of the early production M25's. I don't know what those Blue Book guys have been smoking. I'd say on a good day yours could sell for$900- $950, if you have the box and accessories. You can buy a new one for $1169 retail.

Any time you do an outright sale to a dealer expect to get about 50% of the gun's value or original price unless it happens to be high demand and they know they can turn it over quickly for more money. This rule of thumb applies when the time between purchase and turn-over is only a few years or so. For guns bought in 1976 for $145 as I paid for my original Dan Wesson .357, the decades between then and now have been quite kind to the old girl and she will bring a premium price! But it will still only be about half current selling price unless you're selling to a private citizen.
