I guess we are all different, but my 67 no dash has stainless rear sights. Never posed a problem for me! Bob

Is it just a trick of lighting or is that barrel rusty? What's up with that?

As for the stainless sights, they were only used for a short time on the early 66s and 67s then replaced in later production with blued ones for better visibility. Some collectors seem to think the early stainless sights carry a special cachet.

A blued sight of similar vintage can be placed on your gun in about five minutes… two screws and you're done. Alternatively you can change just the blade to a blued one on your existing stainless rear sight.

If you are actually shooting the gun, you'll probably benefit from the change, but if you are more into collectibility, leave the sight alone.

What Froggie said is correct. Many of the early 66's and 67's ended up having the stainless rear sight replaced with a blued sight to reduce glare. Those that still have the original stainless sight are preferred by collectors.

no rust, just a weird lighting effect. I have a 67-1 that i'm going to use as my shooter (I actually hate to put it into the carry rotation). I'm getting a model 15 modified with a white outline blade, and I'll see how that goes before altering the no dash 67.
