Blued steel and walnut

Guns used to be almost exclusively blued carbon steel and wood for the stocks. The bluing was like art work, and the wood stocks were expertly checkered.

Those days are gone. But, I will continue to keep my steel and wood guns, and hopefully pass them down to my kids and grand kids.

I have a few like that, too; they're way up there in the favorites department. The wood might be Goncalo Alves, though, not walnut.

The Model 25 currently has elkhorn stocks on it, I have to admit that. I will add pix in another reply.

I think pretty much every gun I have in stainless/nickel/etc. would be better in polished blued steel + walnut.

It isn't so much an investment but rather always a quick fix for a serious addiction. Everytime it is just a short term medication .

That is a 1422, making it .22 l.r.

The 1522 is a .22 WMR, the 1430/1432 is a .222 Remington and the 1530/1532 is a .22 Hornet. The Mannlicher stocked model is a 1423 in .22 l.r.

Thanks for sharing.

(IMHO) All very well made and good shooting rifles, especially the .22l.r. "Stutzen" (= Mannlicher stocked / last picture)
and the .222Remington with Monte Carlo Stock (2. picture). The handy .22l.r. for a lot of shooting and the .222Remington
for "a bit more reach"...
