I am considering purchasing one of these from an individual and would like some pricing feedback. Also, do you think they will ever have any collector value?
It's the older model with the laserlyte laser. Has the carrying case/bag, two magazines, all original box and papers & a few hollow points.
He's wanting $300 or so. No pics but it appears to be in good condition.

That's a good price. If I remember correctly I think I paid around $400 out the door for mine. I've shot it maybe 100 times. No problems at all and it shoots pretty good for a little gun. Collector value??? Maybe in a century or two.

A LGS that I've purchased a number of firearms from - in fact I just bought a 9mm Shield from them - had several listed on their webpage in their used gun section a couple weeks ago. I just checked and neither are listed so they sold. If I remember correctly, they had them listed at around $290 or so. There were listed as having the soft case, spare magazine, etc. I believe both were the older laser models? Didn't see them so I'm not 100% sure.

One thing - on the ones listed at the LGS and if you found any at a LGS used - you have no idea of their history or why they are being sold. I'm not saying that they are "unreliable" but like any handgun, there can be lemons once in a while. If you know the individual - perhaps you know how it shot or you could try it out if you have any doubts? Overall, it sounds like a fair price if in nice shape.

As far as "collector value" . . . I doubt that they will be collector pieces unless it's in the next century.

All that said . . . I have a 83 year old friend who bought one a year or so ago. At first, he had problems racking it due to his arthritis in his hands and the size of the BG. It has gotten better for him though - enough rounds though it now that it has eased up some on the racking and he seems to be getting along O.K. with it. If you are older (I'm 62) and have any issues such as that, try it first and see how it works for you. At one time, a number of years ago, I was going to get one but opted for a Ruger LCR instead. I traded that off on a Smith Model 36 snub for carry and liked the Smith much better. Now . . . I have picked up a 9mm Sheild for carry and love it. If I ran across a 380 BG at a fair price though and had the $$ at the time, I'd pick one up.

I bought the no laser model in Feb. and paid around $390 plus tax and have put around 600 + trouble free rounds of FMJ & HP down range. If it's used around $300 seems fair, but buyer beware. Used semi autos can be trouble prone.

Thank you guys for the feedback. I had tried looking the BG up in both the Standard Catalog of Firearms & the SCSW (both of which I was excited to receive from Amazon) and couldn't find anything in either. Maybe I missed something. I figured the $300 was fair enough. I had offered a lower amount after reading of some of the problems with the early models.
Oh well, You can't buy them all... Or Can You?
