OK, so 48 long hours after buying this little beauty, I finally got to the range.

Short version - it's awesome and I love it.

Longer version. Took it to the range with some boxes of Freedom Munitions target ammo, and a box of Gold Dots. Running the target ammo, it shoots like an absolute dream - not punishing at all. With my previous LCP, I normally found 50 rounds more than enough for a range session before my hand really didn't like it. The Bodyguard 2.0 is much softer shooting, feels great in the hand. The Gold Dots were more of a handful, and with them I got some redness on the web of my hand from the beavertail during recoil. Not terrible, but a little bit sore.

In all, I ran 100 rounds of the Freedom and 50 Gold Dots. Function was flawless with both mags. The mag springs are definitely stiff right out of the box, no way I could've gotten the last 2 rounds in without a mag loader. It got a little easier with each successive loading, so they should break in nicely.

I kept it at 7 yards. I had no problem keeping everything in the head of a standard silhouette. The longer mag is a touch more controllable, but the grip is very comfy with either.

I think Smith is going to sell a bunch of these.

Can you post a photo with something else to give a sense of its size, like in your hand. It looks to me to be the same size as a Shield which would be counter productive for the .380 cartridge. The photos I've seen so far have just been of the gun without anything to give a size perspective.

It may look like the Shield, but it's definitely smaller. Here are some pics with my LCP.

This is from the website handgunhero.com which is a very useful website.

The image is of a Bodyguard 2.0 over the top of a Shield Plus

Here's a size comparison from Handgun Hero, of the BG 2.0 and the Shield.

Here's a size comparison from Handgun Hero, of the BG 2.0 and the Shield.

It's impressive how the grip has much room for fingers as the larger Shield Plus. Based on my Shield Plus I expect I would be able to get at least a portion of my pinky on the grip.

Everyone talks about the undercut but it looks like the slide being shorter from top to bottom is just as important. S&W did a really good job designing this pistol.

The reduction in the height of the slide is key. You can get away with it because the lower powered load requires less slide mass. I also wonder if the barrel and chamber dimensions have been designed around 380 pressures and recoil, allowing the removal of some metal. The slides on the Shield and the Walther PPS M2 are enormous compared to the BG 2.0, but they have to deal with 9mm.

I noted when I bought my wife a Sig P250SC in 380 that the slide seemed to be the same size as the 9mm guns, with the only attempt at lightening being a divot machined in the top of the still large barrel hood. I guess this is what happens when you try to economically downsize a gun from a larger caliber.

I ran 100rds of Fiocchi and 50rds of Magtech and had no issues.
Before that, the slide would kinda catch on something 3/4” short of being able to lock it open…now it easily racks back all the way. Just needed to break something in.

Fun was accurate at 5-7Y, but I was shooting 1.5-2” left. At 20Y, I was 8-10” left. It could be me, as the sights do look perfectly aligned, but I’m gonna bench it soon and check for sure if it’s me or the gun.

Went to the gun show in Gray, TN a little while ago, pretty much a bust for prices on anything...but, I did get to handle one of the new Bodyguard 2.0's, man that thing is tiny! :)

I did resist the urge to take one home...need a few more things than another pistol at the moment...but one of these will find its way home with me at some point! :D

What was the price?

The difference in the barrel hood was obvious. Less obvious was that a .380 slide also has lightening cuts that are absent on a 9mm slide.

I kinda like it myself. Looks like these micro 380s and 9MMs ain't going away any time soon. Been strong sellers for quite a while it seems. Seems like it took off after the CS-9--40--45 quit production around 2006 or 2007. Glad I have held onto my CS-9 but this new 380 sounds awful tempting. Just my opinion here.

Love it, easy to shoot fast and accurate.

A couple hundred trouble free accurate rounds with my new Bodyguard 2.0. T
LCP Max was sold. LCP Max wasn't even close to shootability as the BG2.0.
