Boeing B-29 Superfortress, "DOC", in Tulsa

The only thing I remember was crawling through the tunnel above the bomb bay that connected the aft pressurized cabin to the forward one.
Because there were lots of people making the tour, the tunnel was crowded.
There were people in front of me and behind me in the tunnel.
I was in the middle, and couldn't move at all.
I was not particularly claustrophobic, but I developed a good case of it that day.

We stood in line for about 45 minutes trying to get inside & I only saw two people come out & the line never moved so we gave up & just did the walk around self-tour. No idea what the problem was, maybe the same thing as you experienced. :p

As I waited in line, underneath the wing, I noticed something.
The plane was pouring out oil/hydraulic fluid! I mean just sitting there, it leaked like a sieve.

I didn't notice any fluid actively leaking on DOC but there were plenty of oil drip marks & stains underneath it as well as rags plugged in various openings. ;)

I'm sure it's a nightmare trying to keep it oil-tight.

Had the thrill of a lifetime dream come true and got a half hour ride in a B-17 (Madras Maiden) about five years ago.
Being that there are only two B-29's sill in service limits anyone's chance of ride of a lifetime.

When I heard about it coming to Tulsa on the local news they mentioned you could pay for rides. I couldn't remember exactly what the prices were (though I knew it wasn't going to qualify for my Xmas list) so I searched & found DOC's website (link below) & the prices.

Wonder if the flights sold out? I'm sure it would have been a thrill though.

Seat locations & pricing
--------------------------
Each B-29 Doc Flight Experience flight has 11 seats:

- Bombardier ($1,500)
- Cockpit/Pilot Observer ($1,200)
- Radio Operator ($1,200)
- Navigator ($1,200)
- Master Gunner ($600)
- Gunner ($600 each, six seats)

Thanks for posting the link. I signed up for a 2025 flight dates list. I paid $550 for the B17 ride, well worth it.
For the price of a S&W 27-2 with a 6" bbl I'll take the B29 flight. You know what I mean, you only live once!

About five or six years ago...for Father's Day my wife bought me a ride on the Commemorative Air Force's "FiFi". It was a great experience. I had already taken a flight on the now gone B-17 "Nine-O-Nine" which I also got to co-pilot.
