WTS the following guns. Neither gun has the box, papers, etc. Just the guns. Prices include fully insured shipping from my dealer to yours. I am happy to ship to a C&R holder, but it will cost more as it will require Next Day Air. Please email me for a shipping quote to a C&R. I am listing these here only, but will take them to a show this weekend if unsold by then. Once at the show, I will have limited access to the internet, so if they sell there, I may not know if I have an "I'll take it" here. Other than that, first unequivocal "I'll take it" gets it, via post, PM, or email. I know some like to keep their purchases off-board, hence I am not requiring a post. I will go by time-stamp of the message.

If you desire a local deal here in NC, I'll knock $50 off the purchase price if you come to me. PM or email me for my location. Or, I can meet you at the Greensboro gun show this weekend. Of course, all laws apply for local deals.

Finally, one of these has been my carrying and shooting 1950 Target for several years. I bought the other one to be a range piece rather than a woods-bummin' piece, since it was in such nice condition. The only reason I am selling them is changes in life circumstances that dictate I get more liquid. I rarely use either of these anymore, instead doing my woods-bummin' with a 624 and rarely taking the nicer one to the range. For that reason, I'm not really interested in trades unless I feel they will be financially beneficial to me. Also, my prices are firm. If the guns go unsold long enough, I might drop them a bit, but I have tried to price them fairly up front and am not really interested in lower offers.

Thank you for looking!

1. SOLD PF......REDUCED TO $1,000 SHIPPED FROM MY FFL DEALER TO YOURS....1950 Target .44 Special. All matching numbers, including the stocks. Have factory letter. It shipped June 20, 1955 to Cabot & Webster Co. of Yonkers, NY. Has the factory bright blue finish. The gun shows high edge and muzzle wear in various places from being carried and used. Has some holster wear on the cylinder and has various other fine scratches, couple small dings, and a couple spots of fine freckling. It is still a nice-looking shooter grade gun and its wear is honest wear from years of use. I added the Tyler T after I got it to suit my tastes. It has an excellent bore and chambers. Excellent carry-up with very good lock up. It has a touch of endshake and a bit of sideplay, as one would expect from a gun that has been used, but barely more than the other gun, which has obviously been shot a lot less than this one. It has a few light, partial impressions of case heads on the recoil shield. A previous owner put a small notch in the front sight for an insert, which was gone when I got the gun. One could easily put an insert in there, but I found I liked it fine as-is. It shot best for me with 240-grain lead bullets and I got 5-shot groups of well under 2" at 25 yards with it consistently off the bench. The trigger pull is extremely smooth and the single-action break is probably no more than 3 pounds. It is actually a little lighter than I would prefer for a field gun. Makes for very accurate shooting, though. I don't know if anyone has worked on it, or it has just worn in that nicely with a life of shooting.

The stocks are solid, but show old wear, including an old chip on the right panel and old rounding of some of the edges from carry. Came to me this way and the wear is aged like the rest of the stocks.

I've tried to include pictures of everything that I think is pertinent to your evaluation of the gun's condition. Please email me if you have any questions. $1,050 shipped, which is, in the balance, less than I paid for it and the letter several years ago.

2. SOLD PF.... 1950 Target .44 Special. Appears to be the standard blue finish, to me. Not as highly polished as the other one. All matching numbers except stocks, which are Cokes and unnumbered. I have the factory letter and it shipped December 24, 1955 to Evaluators Ltd of Quantico VA with checkered walnut stocks. When the Cokes were added, I have no idea. It came this way to me. Evaluators Ltd was a big S&W distributor to FBI agents and Marines back in the day. Lots of interesting stories about them here on this board and I was really pleased to get a 1950 Target that shipped to them.

This is a very nice gun. It has a little bit of muzzle/high edge wear that you can find with good eyesight and a bit of minor dinging on a few of the screws/screwholes. It also has a couple very small spots of very, very light freckling, probably from being stored at some point without being properly wiped down. It has an excellent bore and chambers and only a bit of very light ghosting on the recoil shield from case heads. Like the other gun, it has a very smooth trigger pull, though the single action break is a bit heavier than the first gun. Still a light break and very easy to shoot.

The gun came to me with a custom rear sight blade, as shown in the pictures. No clue who made it. The gun shoots very well and I got 2" or better groups at 25 yards with it with standard 240-grain cast bullet loads, but it shot better with lighter bullets in the 210-215 grain range. I've attached a group I shot with it with Black Hills 210 grain bullets that measured 1.25" center to center for 5 shots off the bench. I was very pleased.

The Cokes are very nice, but not perfect. They have a bit of minor wear, scuffs and compressions, on close inspection, and a couple extremely hairline surface checks in the grain that do not move and do not go through to the other side. There are also a couple small, old chips in them that are aged like the rest of the wood - at the toe and and right behind the trigger guard.

There aren't as many pics of this one as there isn't as much to show and most of what you might call flaws won't show up in the pics, they are small enough. But, please ask any questions you may have. A very nice shooter, but nice enough to be a collectible example, in my opinion. Plus a letter and very interesting ship destination. $1500 shipped.
