Just wondering where everyones brass is going out of their S&W AR-15. And also does this mean that mine is overgassed. I know I am but I just wondering about my AR. Ken

I find my brass (from my M&P15) lands at different locations, depending on the manufacturer or in some cases, the reload recipe. I don't recall ever finding mine at 2 o'clock.

My carbine AR ejects to the 2 o'clock and it's running perfectly. If your rifle is running fine then don't worry about it.

This. Ejection pattern may or may not be useful information to consider when trying to diagnose trouble. If the gun is running reliably then ejection pattern simply tells you where you can collect your brass when you're done, nothing more. My M&P15T ejects .223 brass to 2 o'clock with the stock buffer and bolt carrier. A Spike's ST-T2 buffer and a full-auto carrier slow cycling a bit and moves this ejection pattern to ~3 o'clock. Either way my 15T just runs and runs and runs and runs....

Yea mine is running fine as it is. I havent changed anything in regards to bolt or buffer but I have been considering an H2 buffer. I was just wanting to know if ejection at 2oclock was normal. thanks for the replies so far

if you notice, there is an actual brass deflector that portrudes from the frame, not only on M&Ps but on almost (if not all) AR 15 type rifles. Brass will come out and bounce of this deflector, which will make it go to the 2o'clock... more or less. It helps with brass deflection and, among other things, aids left handed shooters like myself to not get hit on the face with hot brass.

An H2 buffer is a bit much for a semi only, normal length barrel AR. However, I have an H buffer in my carbine and I like it. Unnecessary, but a decent upgrade.

Now that I think about it? does anybody's gun ejects to a different place othr than the 2 o'clock? because it seems normal

In one of Patrick Sweeney's books, he notes that 2 o'clock ejection is the sign of a properly functioning and timed AR.

2 o'clock is considered normal and pretty much standard for most AR platforms. An H2 buffer is a SENSIBLE upgrade for any AR utilizing a carbine length gas system. It slows down the unlocking sequence enough to make it much more reliable. I run an H2 exclusively in all four of my M4™ carbines.

Put another way, mine is typically between the 3:00 and 4:30 positions.

Yea, 2:00 seems to be about where mine goes too. "I'll have to check to see if that's AM or PM". And honestly, I am way to aware of it. Being a "Lefty", the first thing I notice about ANY semi-auto pistol or rifle, is where the spent cases go. As a lefty, some love to hit you in your face. First thing I do with any new gun; bolt or semi; is load it up with dummy rounds and manually work the action so I know where the spent cases go. "Most of the time". I have/had 3 AR platforms. I've been lucky. All 3 shoot around 1-2:00.

Sounds like you need one of those Stag arms lefty ARs.

IM a lefty too. left handed ARs suck. I like the fact that I can look at my ejection port easily when Im shooting. Brass doesn't hit m on the face... maybe once or twice in basic training shooting old beat up M16s.

I also like having a right hand version, because I like the idea of being able to go to any gun shop, online, or gun show and get any replacement part I want or need. The who stag left handed version AR to me is a really big waste of money. I would never buy a lefty AR. Lefties have been able to adapt to right handed guns for years. No need to pretend. I've learned to drive a stick shift manual transmission. Never asked that the shifter be on the left side. Never asked that the clutch and gas on my motorcycle be changed. A left handed semi-auto rifle makes no sense. By the first magazine, you get accustomed to it.

Completely agree. I run a Spikes ST-T2 (H2 for all intents and purposes), and also a Sprinco "Red" extra power spring. Makes the rifle much smoother feeling, and affected reliability not one bit, even with Tula ammo.
