Breaking news! A Ft. Hood Shooting!

There's a shooting ongoing at Ft. Hood, fugitive still sought.

FBI agents from Waco are joining local police in the search. No mention of MP's, but Ft. Hood has civilian police on post.

Why do they not have MP's, with SWAT teams?

When I was in the USAF, sabotage alert teams would probably roll to assist the Air Police flight (platoon) on duty.

The Army is releasing the name of Specialist Ivan Lopez age 34. Active duty Army. How will his story turn out?

By coincidence (?) a Specialist with the very same name but age 28 hung himself on Jan. 28th. not a mile from my house. He had seen combat and returned home months earlier a different man because of the experience. Another victim of the war.

We need to do better by these men and woman.

My prayers go out to all those injured and killed.

They deserve a lot better. All we care about is who is going to pay for it. Should have thought of that before we started the **** that made them this way.

Just saw press conference by a Ft. Hood General Officer. He reported that the shooter's weapon was a S&W .45 cal semi-auto pistol recently purchased in the local area.

Since the shooter has been identified as Spc. Ivan Lopez, age 34, and described by the post commander as having had "behavioral health and mental health" problems, the motivation of somebody named Muhammad probably isn't the issue here.

I'm curious where you get that rwsmith was talking about "Muhammed." rwsmith never mentioned Muhammed, and the shooter's true identity (Sgt. Lopez) had been posted in this thread 56 minutes prior.
