Hoping someone still has their copy of Handloader with this column in it. I think it may have been issue 228. In his From the Hip column Brian discussed his use of Mid-Range loads in sixguns and listed an extensive set of loads that have worked well for him across numerous calibers.

Does anyone have their issue or access to a scan/PDF? I would love to be able to review the content.

Thanks,

Nope, that's not it. The one I am thinking of was written as his column, not an article per se. It discussed moderate/mid-range loads of 900 fps to 1100 fps or so is large caliber sixguns, ie 41 Mag or so and up. It talked some about the speed of sound too and how projectiles slowed at a more gradual rate after dropping to sub-sonic levels.

Thanks,

I don't have 2004 but I do have the table of contents for them & it does look like they did have such an article on page 10 & it says continued?

Yep, that looks like the one I remember. Wish I had saved the magazine. I had forgotten that it was done in two parts though. Hopefully someone still has that issue and can scan the column for me.

Haven't seen the article, but curiously enough, my own observation over many years demonstrates for various range games and accuracy drills, finds regardless of the recipe or caliber, I seem to get better results at the target in that velocity range.

In addition nearly zero leading of cast boolits, as well as increased comfort to the wrist/arm in such loads.

Fought years of carpal tunnel syndrome in the process of becoming convinced of the advantages of mid-range loads.
