I've always been a fan of Brian Wilson (Beach Boys)

Finally his story has arrived and is being shown at all the local movie theaters.

I'll be hitting the Cinema in the next few days to watch this troubled geniuses life unfold on the screen.

For those unfamiliar with him, here is a little 10 minute clip of him being honored at the Kennedy Center.

Unfortunately, the Beach Boys like so many 60's musicians cooked their brains with drugs. I grew up in SoCal and was not a beach boys fan but I can show you where Dennis Wilson (the only one who actually surfed) fell off the back of his boat and drowned. It was in the Marina.

Thanks for the post Labworm. I've been a fan of the Boys for who knows how long. Their beautiful harmonies are really special. Isn't it interesting how really good harmony singers are often brothers/sisters or relatives. Here's on of my favorites from my favorite BB album, "Pet Sounds".

Very nice, Labworm. Thanks!

I was a little kid in the Bay area when my big brother went through his beach boy faze. There were woodies on the road. Then it morphed into the hippie era and that was really fun. I was 12 in '69 and that whole Beach Boy then hippie era was just colorful with stuff happening everywhere. Including Viet Nam, of course.
John Cusack is pretty good and is probably a good choice here. Off screen he annoys me sometimes but I don't dwell on that much when watching a movie.

NEVER a dull moment.....

The Beach Boys are synonymous with 'fun' to me, too. We went to an outdoor concert some years back and I wore my 'beach clothes' and some workmates saw me there and couldn't believe it was me!!!!:)

A side story about the Beach Boys concert...

The concert was held at the fairgrounds and I don't know who 'organized' this event, but the BBs were opened by the 'Marshal Tucker Band". This seemed to be the mismatch of the ages. The Tucker fans were extremely rowdy and drunk and while we were watching the BBs the police escorted a constant stream of naked women out of the grounds. Maybe 'Megadeath' opening for 'The Brothers Four' would have been a worse line up.
