Student protesters in Hong Kong are facing the Peoples Liberation Army (Chinese troops) in violent protests. Bricks and fire bombs (some launched by catapult), bows and arrows at the ready. One Chinese troop wounded by arrow.

Hong Kong protesters fire bows and arrows from campus fortress

This situation may end badly. The students are facing the same army that engaged in the Tiananmen Square massacre.

Chinese troops will move in and do another Tiananmen Square massacre. People will be put back in their place and within two, three weeks the media will have moved on and soon it will be forgotten just like the Tiananmen Square massacre. Most people don't know what you are talking about if you mention it.

Yep. Sad, but if this was anyone else's issue, it should be Great Britain's.

If the British get involved, it will become another Ireland. Remember Bloody Sunday! The Queen gave medals to the soldiers who killed ~20 unarmed marchers!

In the 90's I was talking to a former resident of Honk Kong, about the upcoming turn over of HK to the Mainland Chinese. She was so glad that they would no longer be under British Rule! I questioned if choosing the Communists over the British wasn't a bit harsh? She said that Americans should know better than anybody, How terrible British Rule can be! It was sooooo bad that we threw them out 220 years ago (at that time- now over 250years!)

Be careful what you ask for!

I think "The Chickens have come home to roost!" along with the T-72's!

I would send the students a Texas "Come and Take it Flag" but apparently the British got all the guns already, leading to the situation of having no firearms to fight in this upcoming invasion.

This getting uglier by the day. The students are trying to hold the Chinese University Hong Kong as it contains the main internet hub for all of Hong Kong. The communist want to shut it down so no information can flow.
Many first responders have shown up to offer help to the wounded and are immediately arrested.
The air is so full of tear gas that its causing long term heath issues even for those who aren't protesting.
Word is that regular Chinese troops are already camped in the area. Its only a matter of time before they slaughter everybody.
I fear that no amount of pressure from other countries is going to have any effect.
Its a blood bath waiting to happen. :(

did you know, tianamen has never been heard of in china?

i was talking online to someone living there who thot i was lying when i told her about it.
i had to send her some old press reports that shocked her.
if you search tianamen in china, you get nothing.

I am not surprised. Some folks are working on similar restrictions on information in the rest of the world.

The winners always write the history books.

IDEA! May we can swap students? Ship the ones in the US who don't like our country and trade them for the students in Hong Kong who don't like the Communist system. Then everything will be just fine.

I want to like this again! And again!
