OK, there is a thread a couple below this one on the Merits of the Browning HP. I have one I bought new in 71, and I want to dress it up with some new grips. dark rosewood, Cocabolo dark or figured, or just something that catches my eye. Spegel is running months behind, Culina does not make them, and i am not interested in fake ivory or colored plastic to make this beauty into a pimp gun.

Any suggestions on where to start looking? Thanks

Bought a beautiful set of Birch for BHP off the bay several months ago but can not remember the seller. Quite a few different choice for the HP on there.

Check out BHSpringSolutions. They have the FSF system, springs, and beautiful grips for the BHP and clones thereof. Some of the grips are really amazingly beautiful, but not inexpensive.

Hogue checkered hardwood are very nice. I have cocobolo on my .40.

Yep - have a pair of Hogue checkered on mine, look and fit great.
I had an old pair of Pach's and used an Exacto knife to trim off the rear black rubber checkered panel that covers the backstrap.
I placed that section on the backstrap, re-installed the Hogues. Great set-up.

On a FEG clone that gets used as a 'stand-in beater', I put on VZ's. Fine for that. IF you ever go that route remember to use the neoprene 'O' rings, otherwise they loosen up quickly.

I am partial to Nill-Griffe, but they take at least 60 days to ship from Germany.

I have a pair of Philippine Mahogany I purchased from Brownell's years ago. Very nice checkering. I also have a set of Craig Spegel grips. Probably the best HP grip ever but you may have to wait for them.

KSD makes a great set of thin checkered turkish walnut grips for $60, as well as about a dozen garish and horrible designs targeted at the Belgian pimp crowd.

Man I wish I never let my HP go!

I had a set of "ultra thin rosewood" grips I bought from Cylinder & Slide. I think they were basically Spegal copies. This was about 20 years ago, don't know if they still have those.

They made an already great feeling pistol absolutely sensuous!!

Better yet, I need an extra HiPower. Send it to me as I have some Spegels to put on it.

I bought some new thin, checkered walnut grips just a couple months ago off of ebay I think they were made by Herrets and they were about $30.
