Classic Firearms had a recent sale on what they claimed were original Inglis mage magazines for $18 each. I ordered a couple as those mags usually go for about 80 bucks or so. What I got appear to be well-made magazines but not sure they are Inglis made. The only markings I can see are on the floorplate, a "RA". The follower appears to be cast aluminum. Anyone know about magazines marked RA?

there was a thread on this sight in the past discussing the magazines. I did not purchase any but the Inglis magazines I have purchased in the past had a metal follower but were marked JI on the base plate and the magazine body.

I am waiting for delivery on the Inglis mags I ordered from them. Might be here today. I hope I did not waste my money.

RA stands for point of origin according to this sales pitch.

This is a Factory Orignal John Inglis 13-round “RA” stamped magazine for Browning Hi-Power pistols chamberd in 9mm

Crafted from durable Suncorite enamel coated steel, steel springs and the very rare alloy cartridge follower. These surplus magazines were manufactured to British army specifications and are in excellent new condition (100% new in wrapper). These are belived to be the last batch of new old stock in existence.

Featuring an alloy cartridge follower and a one-piece welded steel body marked “RA” for its point of origin, these magazines were manufactured under license on Canadian Equipment by the Indian Ordnance Factory for John Inglis and Company in Toronto for Allied Troops serving all over Europe and Asia—with some mags going on to serve with the Israeli Army and Civilian Police known as the

From MOOSEDOG's post it would seem that they are post war manufacture?

Just walked in from the mailbox and my mags arrived. Glad to read the above post and find out the mags are legit.
Thank you for the info.

The gov't of India makes (made?) a copy of the Canadian Inglis HP at their Ordnance Factory @ Ishapore. Their Model designation was Pistol 9mm 1-A.
It's the fixed sighted model,,I don't think they ever made the tangent sighted edition.
They probably torch cut the frame out of plate just like the Inglis.

Of course they also made magazines for it during production

I suspect these are from one of their many Ordnance Factorys there in India. I don't recognize the marking, but they have betw 40 & 45 separate Ord Factorys to make most anything they need.

So,,my guess,,,,these are India mfg magazines for the India produced copy (Model A-1) of the Canadian Inglis HP pistol.

If they fit, work well, and are of decent mfg,,that's a great price IMO.
