Browning Hi Power

I've been carrying my HP a lot lately. It had a lot of miles on it before I got it for a pretty good price just before they were discontinued, but shoots absolutely great. I've been thinking about sending it to Garthwaite for a safety upgrade, bluing, and possibly a slide rail peening if he thinks it's necessary.

I sent my HP to Garthwaite and received an heirloom in return. Just be careful, his list of necessary modifications was addictive. I added a beaver tail frame, stippling, gold dot front sight, action job and another dozen or so smaller modifications. I recommend him.

I had the same issue with my Mk III, it came with the stock ugly black grips. I like black rubber for looks on some guns, but this ain't one of em. I expeditiously swapped them out for some Houges that look pretty nice, I think.

Belgium Hi-Power's are GREAT guns! I had one for many years but sold it about 15 years ago since I almost never shot it. I took the money and bought another Colt Gold Cup Series 70 (from the 1970's) which I shoot weekly.

I never had any issues with it and it was a very accurate and beautifully made gun. Sometimes I miss it, but at least I use the Gold Cup. :o
