Buffalo Bore .380+P (100 gr) in Glock 42

Funny the Caj should mention Win White Box 380.
Just the other day I bought 2 boxes at Cabelas.
I think it was 60 cents a round.

The last time i looked, winchester's round was a 95 jfp. Maybe not the velocity of Buffalo Bore's, but it has worked in all the .380's owned.

Still, am going to agree with those using the xtp's. Not for expansion, but reliability and accuracy.

I recently changed the carry round in my BG to the Federal Hydra Shock Deep. From test results I saw, it was the only .380 round that both penetrated deep and expanded. It functions well in my gun, but so does everything else I've fed it.

But I don't get hung up on test results. Which round is best is like debating which motor oil is best for your pickup.

The federal 90 grain hydrashocks are great. They may be "old technology"
but they perform well in tests. "Shooting the bull" found in testing that the underwood XTP performed the best.
hydrashocks finished 2nd or 3 rd place out of about 50 different hollowpoints. Thats good eneough for me and my BG380

I would stay away from cast bullets in the G42, for the reasons stated.above. There are other high powered 380 rounds that will function as they should out of a G42. I carry Underwood 90gn +p XTP in my G42. The Underwoods are loaded pretty hot, out of a 3.25" barrel they have ballistics better than most 38s.

Don't know about the G42 but I recently picked up a Sig P365-380 which I really like. It has been 100% reliable from day one with a wide range of ammo - BB, Underwood, Fiocchi, Federal HST, Winchester WB, Hornady CD. Trigger is good and pistol is very accurate at 21ft. One thing I really like is that it's fun to shoot fast, low recoil and minimal barrel rise. Holds 10 rounds and you can get a 12 round ext mag. I also have a Sig P232SL, a PPK, and a Beretta 84 but the Sig has become my go to gun in 380.

If you look at the Lucky Gunner test it becomes pretty clear that various JHP's don't get required penetration. The Hornady FTX Criitical Defense seems a good option to FMJ. I alternate that and the Underwood Lehigh load in my mags.

.380 HP such as the XTP's are proven to expand in spite of the urban myth they don't. Today's ammo is not yesterdays.

I'm a fan of the black hills honey badger round in .380. No expansion due to the "Phillips screwdriver " flutes. Loads like hardball, accurate and reliable in my Sig p238.

I have been searching for the best available .380 round for my daughters and have settled on this one, myself.

Rodgers Sporting goods had some in stock and I bought some and went back and got 4 more boxes. They soon sold out and I'm glad I hit buy when I did........

My wife has a Glock 42. I've been handloading for 45+yrs and we will not shoot lead in it per Glock's "admonishment" not to do so. Figure they certainly know better than me. I've been handloading for it since she bought it and it pretty much eats anything. Having said that, I've handloaded Lehigh Defense Xtreme Penetrator 90 gr bullets for it and it functions fine. Need a bit more range time to be certain and comfortable with them, but that will be her carry load when we finish ringing it out.
