I'd really like to get a Randall knife. I understand that the wait is 4 years now? I see there's quite a few brand new ones on ebay. Is it crazy to buy one there? Are there fakes? Just curious. Thanks.

Closer to 6 years ordering direct but if you order from Clinton it's about 8 months and no mark up if you wanted something custom.

Clinton also has a couple in stock right now. So does AG Russel, Nordic and Mitch Harrison if you wanted something typical.

I'd worry about fakes on eBay but with good research into the seller, you should be ok. Personally, I'd check the authorized retailers first though.

I order all mine from the Randall Shop , with custom features so as to make them my own . The 5-6 year waiting time lets me save up enough and have it paid off when it's ready for shipment .
Not having unlimited amounts of money this is my lay away system .
I can usually save enough money to have some really nice custom things done to my knives ... If you don't have deep pockets , the wait does have a little up side to it .

Nordic and AG Russell can get them earlier depending on the options wanted BUT you'll pay a premium over the factory order - up to $100 extra.
The alternative is to go to Capt. Chris Stannaback, Buxton or Clinton & you should get it in about 6 - 8 months at the factory price. The dealers buy or use to buy at a 20% discount over the factory price FWIW.
There may be options to the three I mentioned but I can't think who they might be right now.

The Spyderco Factory Outlet in Golden, Colorado has a bunch on the shelf. They're the distributor in Colorado.

Notice, I said they are the Spyderco Factory Outlet, not the Randall Factory Outlet. I don't know how their prices are.

I like to put in a "plug" for Randall, they had and likely still do have an exemption for deployed military, they will get a knife to an APO address in about 90 days. I received my model 15 in Iraq in 2008 using that service and it served me well until this day along with my model 1 that I got later after waiting 5 years as I had returned!

Been a few years since I've been there, but the Kittery Trading Post in Kittery, Maine had more Randall's than I've ever seen in one place. I bought a Model 25 from them. I even got to pick which knife I wanted out of their stock. I'm a stag junky so I took the prettiest one. Their prices were very reasonable at that time.

Forum member Rick Bowles always has a nice selection of Randall knives in stock. That is where I would start.
Thanks for the mention John. Order through one of the bigger authorized Randall dealers like Clinton, Wayne Buxton, Dave Harvey (Nordic) etc. and you won't have a problem. Mitchell Harrison is not an authorized dealer but he has some nice old knives. You can call the Randall shop (NOT FACTORY) at 407-855-8075. Mindy will give you a list of dealers to contact.

Buxton knives is where I get the ones I don't want to wait for. He sells at factory cost. No wait. Just watch his site for new arrivals. Also you can call Wayne Buxton on the phone to see what he has coming soon. Then put your name on it.

He has an exclusive model the Buxton fighter that is super sweet.

I would not buy from EBay. There are fakes but they are easy to spot. The real ones always go Way too high. I won't pay more than the factory cost for one.

What are you looking for?

Buy one You can find now then, I strongly recommend ordering one to your specs and waiting the 5 years. It goes by faster than you'd think it would. It's pretty cool when it finally gets delivered, and you realize it was made for you.

What style knife are you looking for? Lots to choose from. A Model 1 is a classic, their Sambar is exceptional.
