Cabelas is starting to cancel backorders

Got a email from Cabelas stating they were canceling a ammo backorder on me. I replied and said I would wait but they still say they won't honor the backorder. Just wanted to let everyone know what they are up to.

This is to be expected. A vendor can't sit and wait around forever on stuff.
The reality is many of the orders placed will fall of the manufacturers' lists via a 90 day timeline also.
It happened last panic also. After 90-120 days, the vendor gets contacted by the MFG, and they say "Are you still wanting to have this order on hold?"
Often, the answer is 'Let's stuff it and start over.'

This is how they will clear a 2 year backlog in 6 months. Just like last time.
 
Cabelas had a fairly significant price increase last week in the stores for the ammo they were receiving. I'm wondering if it's not a result of a jump in manufacturer pricing and thus, they can no longer hold on the backorder pricing. Not saying I do or do not support this, just saying it may be the cause. I also haven't found ANY new ammo at my favorite 5 Walmart stores since I noticed the increase. Wonder if a renegotiation is in process there as well. Cabelas and Walmart buy direct from the manufacturers so it may be the second phase of the process where the price increase moves up the supply chain. Just thinking out loud!!!!!
