This morning I needed a break so I went for breakfast, stopped by a Walmart, and then onto Cabelas. Walmart is starting to see Federal 100 boxes in 9/40/45 and they even had some "price rollback" stickers. Bought a couple 100/45 for <$25 each and moved on.

I got to the reloading aisle in Cabelas and just let my jaw hit the ground. CCI primers of all varieties and in quantity for about $28 per 1000. Then I looked up and DOZENS of powders stacked deep and wide. TAC, Universal, H335, H322, CFE223, all the DOTS, Longshot, and the list goes on. YES, I forgot to take a picture. I'm soooooo embarrassed by that...

Then over in the 22LR aisle, they had bricks, match, and standard 50 round federal. They had multiple CCI varieties and all was also stacked wide and deep. Unfortunately, it looks like the new normal for plinkers is 6-7 cents and the match quality stuff is 9 cents and up.....

I'm still blinded by the powder......

Cabelas had little people running around singing about the Lollipop Guild, flying monkeys, people without a brain (that I can believe), two witches and a farm girl? At our local Dicks all we have is a guy who looks like the Cowardly lion and at Walmart the flying monkeys work there and complain about going on break all the time.

I've seen more locally myself. Even ones I have loads worked up for. Perhaps online sales are slowing as people are feeling stocked up. I know I have slowed down as I figure my supply is at least 3 years. Everybody click your heels and chant and maybe this shortage will come to an end.

Cabelas is the big player and do a great job getting product, and seem to be fair in their prices. This is in contrast to Gander Mountain. Of course, no Cabelas near me, just a couple of Gander Mountains! I don't bother going in there much.

My LGS has been well stocked in the hard to get powders since late last fall (BE, Unique, PP, W231, Longshot, etc.)m and his prices are fair. He knows online prices, and keeps his prices in check with those. He has very good relationships with the distributors, so I knew it was the beginning of the end of the shortages of those powders when he started getting the tough to find stuff at the end of last year. Primers have been good for a long time, except magnum LPs have dried up lately.

I'm wondering, as .22lr becomes more and more available, if the price will tick back some more. Or, is $50-$70 a brick really the "new normal?" I sure hope not, but just may be the case. Everything goes up, but it's such a big jump! I'm pretty well stocked, but I do have a 9 and 6 year-old...

As for OZ, can you imagine if Dorothy had her CCL, and was packing some sort of high cap 9mm? Man, she could have solved a lot of problems with those damn monkeys!

Yep, Gander Mountain usually has what I'm looking for, cause it's so dang pricy that no one would buy it.

I've been on the prowl for Bullseye for a week. A dozen stores. No Bullseye. I'll check Cabelas again today; I assume I'll be wasting my time.

Dave have you heard they are trying to bring in a Cabalas into Colonie. Not the best location for sure but its centrally located (Maxwell Rd at Albany Shaker real close to the Northway) the local TV interviewed a few people and most of them said good we can always use a big fishing store... I wonder what most of those would say here in the hot bed of antigun land if they knew Cabalas sold a lot more than fishing supplies!:)

stopped off at the PDX Cabelas a few days ago....while a huge store and only about 18months old, and stuff IS on sale......they had NEITHER ample powders NOR any 22LR stuff...except for some 'subsonic' rounds at $5.99/50.

The rest of the 22 shelf was bare....

After seeing this thread I stopped at the Cabelas in Acworth, GA. NO pistol/shotgun powder, and a limited amount of rifle powder. Reasonable supply of primers for around $26/k, and some boolits. NO .22 LR.

Plenty of fudge, nuts, and clothing.

I would trade one of our two GM for a Cabela's and the other one for a BPS.
Wouldn't even miss the GMs.

I got my hopes up....

which Cabelas in SC do you go to Greenville or Fort Mill ?

They are opening a Cablelas in North Charleston about a mile from my house.....sometime. I think it's a long way off because the development isn't developed. I saw a headline that said, "Cablelas grand opening in Charleston draws 4000". I held my breathe and it was true in Charleston.......West Virginia.:(

PS I'll bet those 4000 people headed straight to the powder aisle.
