I decided to take "Thumper", my 14.7" AR, to the range. It was my first time shooting it with the A2 carry handle. I forgot to bring my front sight post tool

All my shots were on for windage, but off in elevation. No accuracy for me today, just 3" groups at 100yds.

I also put on the Caldwell Brass Catcher. It took just a little adjustment so that brass would properly eject into the bag and not deflect back into the action. Once it was set, it worked like a charm.

Shot 80 rounds today: 40 steel case, 40 brass.

All my brass, and a few range strays, came home. :D

I must be sick. I don't reload, but I can't stand leaving behind reloadable brass cases. If I do leave brass behind, it feels like I'm just dropping quarters on the ground and walking away.

The only time my Sport has had any kind of jam was when a case bounces off the brass catcher back into the action. haha

My biggest problem with the catcher is forgetting to put it back on after a target change cease fire. It has me seriously thinking about getting a bench top catcher...which would also work wgen I shoot my pistols.

JaPes, there are quite a few reloading shops who will reload your brass for you. You send the brass, and if you want a specific bullet, you can send them that also. You can get decent reloaded ammo for a fair price. And, when you want hunting ammo, it can actually save you a few bucks, and you will only have to buy ammo once a year for hunting. A buddy gets 500 frangibles for groundhogs at a time from a shop in Nevada. I think it costs him about .40 cents per round, not too bad for hunting ammo!!!

My Caldwell brass catcher did not work without making a modification to it. I made a sleeve out of a milk carton and put it in the mouth of the bag to hold it open.

I reload/shoot 80gr bullets (along with others) so I have to be able to feed 'em in one at a time. This makes the attached brass catcher impossible/impractical to use. Have never seen this thing and does look interesting. I have a been using the sheet of plastic that I also use to cover the shooting table and this works but is a PITA. Thanks for posting it.

Here's a link to it at Midway.

I took about 30 minutes of my own valuable time and constructed a light wooden frame about 12"X12" and attached it to a wooden base. I used some of those spring-type paper clips and attached part of an old military laundry bag to it. Voila! One brass catcher that sits on the bench while I'm shooting. I just pull it up close to the rifle and in they go.

Cost? Roughly free.

I have one like the caldwell that I am still figuring out just how to install and make work right, but I will get it to work, I really liked the cardboard idea!!

Collecting my BRASS is my Down Time between WAVES of Zombies... err watermelons....:D

Wife actually enjoys it i Think... we spend 3+ hours in our DESERT Range so have lots of Quality Time ta Parooze our Spent Brass...

All i want is a Separate Brass BAG to place my 9mm and .357 rds in... mainly 9mm since they sort same size as .223

But I Will be doing more BENCH shooting Tomorrow.... trying some NEW loads... well really some of my 1st loads...... So a BENCH catcher may be needed.....

Oh HUNNY.... Catch this........:eek::D

At least you reload. Since I don't reload, the cases have zero practical value to me. I'm thinking I'm nuts for picking them up.

I feel a compulsion to pick up my reloadable cases. I just can't stand leaving them behind at the range.

You know you could always sell them, I bet I know a few different people that would pay you something for them. (hint hint)

My thoughts exactly!

Think I may have to make one of those bench catchers. Seems Midway thinks a LOT of theirs.

My reply got sent by my phone before I finished writing it. haha

I was saying that I have a half-built one made from heavy galvanized wire and a mesh laundry bag. It's a glorified minnow net at the moment, but my real need is to have it extend up so I can catch pistol brass shot from a standing position at the indoor range. Still looking to scrounge an extension pole that can be mounted in a stall at the indoor range.

If any of you guys that do not reload have some 223 brass you want to sell or trade, let me know

Every time I get in trouble it is because 'I think'
Especially where the wife is concerned.

I made one out of PVC pipe and mesh, it's freestanding and looks a lot like a small baseball backstop, except there is a catch area at the bottom.
Came to about $25 all told, and I don't have to mount it or hold it.
Works well with all calibers and pistols too.

How about a pic so those of us who arent as ingenious can steel your design? LOL

I couldn't find a suitable telescoping handle for my home made catcher so I ended up ordering a large, telescoping handle fish net from Amazon. I'll mount it to a block of wood with a conduit clip then clamp the wood to the shooting table. That should allow me to adjust the angle of the net to match the pistol's ejector.

You guys are not enjoying shooting your 15 to its potential because you all have the incorrect brass catcher. Here's mine.
