Heard on the news today that new ammo law went into effect today for California residents. Requires a background check for every ammunition purchase. Hope many stocked up in advance. What a hassle.

Buy several thousands of rounds for each caliber you shoot and it shouldn't be too much of an inconvenience. Unless that puts you under suspicion for buying so much ammo you must be considered a criminal type?

It was on our news in Oregon today. I guess the first purchase will cost $19 for a background check. After the individual is in the "system" it will cost $1 for each additional purchase. Mail orders must go to an FFL. Generally, what happens in Ca. will eventually happen in Wa. then Or.

Does this eliminate online mail order sales to CA
Can a CA resident go out of state, purchase ammo, and bring it back?

Living here in NJ the big online ammo sellers want you to email theм a copy of your NJ Firearms Purchaser Card before selling you ammo and shipping it to you in NJ.

Who’s doing the background check?

NY has the same law on the books but the FBI told them no way they were doing BGC’s for ammo. The NYSP have not set up a system to do the checks as of yet, some 5 years after the Safe Act.

Most ammo sellers don’t want to ship due to not wanting to deal with the legal mumbo jumbo of shipping ammo into NY so most won’t. For the time being it is totally legal because no BGC system has not been established.

A few companies will still ship ammo to NY, those in the loop know who they are. :)

Many people, mostly those living on the border, just make a road trip to PA and bring back ammo, who would know?

All violence will end as no criminal will be able to buy ammunition for their stolen firearm.

California has decided to sell the Golden Gate Bridge. I'm brokering the sale. I can get you a great deal with only a small down payment.

That's good news, but not how their link read to me. Did something change?

I think what you are reading into it is this.
If you are from out of state, you cannot go to the store and physically buy ammo. Example, I'm in Iowa but have lots of family in CA.
I cannot buy ammo in CA.
I can order ammo online and have it shipped to me in Iowa.
LAX has been my main ammo source for years, great people. Hard to imagine running that business in Orange Co CA

I get what you are saying about me going there and wanting to buy at their store. However, LAX should do themselves a favor and make it clear on that page that out of state internet sales are unaffected, if that is the case. The current piece on their site is a little ambiguous.
