BAD lawyer at real estate closing
I have used attorneys a few times for real estate and estate issues and have been totally satisfied each time. I always find it interesting that often those who disparage attorneys don't hesitate to hire them if necessary. Like any professional, be it a lawyer, doctor, accountant etc. some due diligence into their back- ground, experience and such is a wise endeavor.
It is always a bit of fun to take a poke at the Cajun bear but I suspect our Forum consigliere will respond with grace and equanimity as we would expect.
I had BAD experience with a Egotistical Lawyer who provided the deed for real estate closing.
His clerk had failed to include some specific language that I had requested.
(Failure to follow lawful orders.)
1) History of the two prior sales including the sale prices.
2) Common language description of location, in addition to the metes and bounds surveyor's description.
The location of this property is commonly known, to the City of Benton, the United States Postal Service, and the General Public as 1319 Valley Road.
3) Egotistical lawyer made insulting comments:
A) Not according to statutes, but could not provide chapter and verse, to support his narrow minded view.
B) Not the way we do it!
C) Insulting language about people who move here and do not understand how we do it here.
D) Did not want to follow lawful orders for including items.
E) Sarcastic comments about CASH Buyers. (Unprofessional conduct.)
Realtor, lawyer, and closing officer were surprised when I refused to sign his deed and walked out with my check.
At second attempt at closing the deed had requested language and the lawyer was still an Egotistical Back-Half of a Horse!
I do have a real estate license in this state.
Therefore, I have passed a test to verify my knowledge of real estate law and the items required in a deed.
Nonrequired language is allowed if requested.
It could detail architectural style, brickwork pattern, name of designing architect (i.e. Frank Lloyd Wright or Bubba Wrong), names of builders, etc.
Next time that lawyer tries to "walk-on-water" I hope it is middle of a well stocked alligator lake in July!
