I need your help with an I.D. of this S&W buckle. Solid brass, 2.75" dia.
Maker? Approx. date?
Thanks in advance.

Google it on flea bay and you will find it listed as a mid 70s brass buckle selling for about 40-50 bucks, stamped UB just like yours.

Thanks moralem, that is it. I googled when I should have ebayed. I found similar buckles but the backs were completely different.

Found it yesterday at a LGS for $5 OTD.

There are two known types of this buckle. The one posted here by Dryheat is not a S&W factory authorized buckle and is a repo made after market by a foundry using the UB mark and has a fixed belt loop on the back. The factory buckle is slightly smaller and was called the Model 660, issued in 1979, and has a swivel belt loop. Sellers often try to fool a buyer with the repo. logo buckle. Ed.

Repo or original, these are still attractive buckles for everyday wear. Ebay usually has some at any given time. Prices generally run about $10 - $15 for repos, $15 - $25 for originals single buckles. Original S&W boxed buckles, with papers. run $30- $50 range. Ed.
