I have all Magpul OD green furniture on my rifle. What I need is to incorperate a lighter green and a FDE color onto it to break up the solid OD color. I don't want to do the upper and lower metal just the furniture.

Does anyone have any camo tricks up their sleeves that can help me out. Please give details on how its done as well.

Thank you in advance :D

My homemade camo job

Here is a Camo job done by myself on my .22 the before and after pictures.
I used simpple camo paint from wal mart.

Painted it entirely OD green, then held a shrub branch over it and sprayed it FDE, then with the same branch held it over the gun and sprayed it with Dark brown camo paint.

Turned out much better than I had hoped it would.

Very well...can you tell me what kind of shrub branch you used....that really works....Maybe I should get some of our tall grass and use that.

Here is one I did a few years ago, first I gave it a base coat of one color then I cut out shapes from tape (can't recall the exact kind - I experimented with masking, packing, black etc until one worked with no edge bleed) I may have used an artist product called 'friskit' also to seal the tape edges. Then I painted another color over everything, then I left the masks in place and added another set and sprayed the third color.... etc. when done and completely dry, strip off all tape and masking and spray a matte clear-coat.

Wish I still had that rifle, she was a good one.

Ok I just finished doing a camo job on the Bell & Carlson Stock on my .308 Mauser that I had just finished building. I used the Hunter's Specialties Kit plus some primer grey and some Kylon clear Matte finish. I also started with the netting underneath and then used sponges. it was too windy to use templates and the Mrs wont let me spray anything in the house (it is pretty small) I am still undecided on how I feel about it and really didnt want to spray the rifle or the scope themselves.

So what do you think?

After looking at the paint jobs shown in this thread, I've decided that I prefer a complete paint job (including rifle and optic) versus just the stock.

Heck Stu, ya ever get bored come on down to Florence and I'll show you how to do it.
I've been doing camo rifles and pistols for years, mostly DuraCoat.
Going to be starting on a Savage 30-06 this week.
