I am hoping to take a trip to Camp Perry for the Nationals this summer. I know they have a revolver class PLUS another seperate competition for revolvers called the "Harry Reeves Revolver Match". I have heard that the rules for exactly what can and cannot be used are different for both but am having trouble finding the regs.
So, what S&W stock revolver would be best for the Revolver match? Harry Reeves? Any advice would be welcome!

Model 14 or K38, 6" barrels. The Reeves match is shot first then the Distinguished Revolver match follows. It's a lot of fun, hope to see you there!

I was hoping that I could use something already in the safe?:
Model 27 5"
Model 27 8 5/8"
Model 29 6.5"
Mdel 10 5"
Colt Python 6"

Do we shoot everything at 25' or is there 50' work involved? Ammo requirements?

There's 2 revolver only matches Harry Reeves & Distinguished Revolver .
Harry Reeves you can shoot anything 32 caliber centerfire or larger . Barrel length including cylinder not more than 10 inches . Trigger pull not less than 2.5lbs unless 45 cal then it can't be less than 3.5lbs . Any sights allowed as long as it does not project an image on the target . Open sights may be adjustable but can not be over 10 inches apart apex to apex . All safety devices must operate as designed . No assisted / programed triggers . Any safe load ammo is permitted . 10 shots slow fire @ 50yds , 10 shots timed fire @ 25yds , 10 shots rapid fire @ 25 yds . Many use custom built guns with aftermarket barrels .
Distinguished Revolver must use a factory manufactured revolver with no external / internal modifications except grips but they must be a mirrior image of each other ie no custom target grips . Must be capable of chambering & firing a 158gr RN or SWC 38 special cartridge . Minor trigger stoning allowed for a crisper sear release & not less than 2.5lb pull . More restrictions also but this gives you an idea . You can use factory or reloads but must be 38 special 158gr RN or SWC any safe load . Again 10 shots @ 50yds , 20 shots @ 25yds .
Google NRA match rules & look for Outdoor Conventional Pistol rules . They'll tell you al you need to know

I've been shooting it a few years. I wanted to shoot a pre 25 but a model 14 is perfect for it.

Your Python is fine. I have to screw my sights up and down 5 clicks between the 25 yard and 50 yard distances with my ammo. They do check a few on the line to make sure the trigger weight is good.

My Python has a trigger pull of over 4 lbs. If it shoots good with my 38 ammo and I decide to use it then a trigger job will happen.

If you look at the rules for centerfire pistol you'll see what's legal for the Reeves match . Only difference is if you chose to shoot a 45 trigger must not be lighter than 3.5lbs , smaller calibers you can go not lighter than 2.5lbs . 10 inch sight radius is why the 8 3/8" barrel exists . For Distinguished Revolver 61/2" barrel is max allowed & must be able to chamber & shoot 38 special only . Hope this helps .

I understand that, for Distiguished, we must use 38 Special ammo but (to clarify) a 357 Magnum chambered revolver would be allowed as long as we used 38s in it? No?

I should know these things. I live 15 minutes from Camp Perry. I've never shot the revolver match.

It it were me I would use the Model 27 with the 5-inch barrel. If I were using my guns I would be using my Outdoorsman.

The 5" Model 27-2 and the Python will go with me to the range and I'll see which one I can shoot the best at 50 yards. I will take the 5" Model 10-1 too, just for comparison's sake.

I used to shoot a Mod 25-2, 45 ACP in Bullseye Matches a long time ago.

I also recommend you do some practice at 25 yards timed fire and rapid fire, before you make your choice.

I shot Timed and Rapid fire single action.

I agree with NE450No2. I shot Timed single action also but the last 4 rounds Rapid was shot double action. Remember, you have plenty of time.
