I have a Shield 40 that does not have the problems that have been discussed on this site, but I do not like the factory sights and am willing to pay for Tru-Glo TFO sights if they will fit.

I am not a gunsmith but I can at least remove and replace sights so I want to know if I can get sights from tTru-Glo that will fit this weapon?

Yes you can get Truglo TFOs for the Shield. See my thread here...

or this thread...

Currently the only Truglo available is for the full size M&P but it does fit the Shield as you can see from my pictures. They may come out with a Shield specific model but haven't yet as far as I know. It may have just a hair width of overhang but it does not bother me (and I'm usually pretty anal about things). If you're looking for a good deal on the sights and install click the link in my thread. James does really good work. Send him your slide and he will install the sights. I think a sight install only is a one day turn around.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the sights. If you see my thread there are some instances where I thought the TFOs would have performed better but for a sight that is good in nearly all light conditions I don't think it can be beat.

Wow, I never realized that the rear sight had a slight overhang to it when I read your other post. And I mean that in a good way. I heard the TFO's didn't quite fit the Shield and when you hear that, it sounds like you could stick them on but they'd look out of place or not quite right. Unless your looking for it, I don't think anyone would notice. I also don't know if they're overhanging enough to catch on anything.

Maybe I should have stated if they will fit the Shield I would be happy to put them on if they actually fit, looks like dovetail measurements are in order!

Just had my m & p truglo sites installed
The "overhang" at the rear site is a non factor
It's the width of a piece of paper...if that...
Part #TG131MPTY for green front and yellow rear
Part #TG131MPT for green on green sites
Bought them from my lgs for 100.00 cash installed

Just had new sights done yesterday, and took it straight the range, love them. Yes there is little over hang on the rear, but you really have to look hard to see it.
I wouldn't recommend it to yourself unless you truly know what you are doing. The gunsmith told me the front sight, took awhile to remove. Let the professional do it.

I have the MGW318 Sight tool for M&P s Maryland Gun Works Front & Rear Sight Tool S&W M&P and have already removed and replaced the front and rear sights on my Full size M&P9. Yes the front sights are a little difficult but not impossible and this toll is made just for it. I also that the Talon Tactical M&P rear sight dovetail tool that makes keeping the spring and cap on the sear blocker assembly simple so I would have no problems doing it to my Shield 40!

The whole process takes less than twenty minutes and keeps me from having to pay anywhere from 50 to 65 dollars to a gunsmith that might take a week or longer to do the same thing!
