No...really.:D

Some of us aren't as svelt as we used to be, which makes having your favorite sidearm with you a bit troublesome.

To say the least....

So, how have you adapted ?

I went to crossdraw while driving or being seated for long periods and a Don Hume IWB at the 4 o'clock position in most cases.

I wear a shoulder holster when carrying concealed. Fits any body size.

There is also a large benefit to the shoulder holster. The belt tie downs hold the pants up so I do not have to walk around continously pulling the pants up around the expanded waist all day.

My iwb holster was getting tough to use so I tried a ccw vest for a while till I realized that was almost like advertising "I got a gun" so then I got one of Lobo's owb modified pancake holsters and that works great. The shoulder holster would be a good choice but I don't like to wear a coat all the time!

Doesn't matter if old or young...

I think a shoulder holster is the best option.
Also not too bad is the "gangsta" choice in the butt crack ;)

I know they're not too popular with this crowd, but I really like my Blackhawk SERPA paddle holster...... Holds my gun well, lightweight, I hardly know its there .....

You could try a G&G belly band with sweat shield for
crossdraw. The only drawback is getting that one button un-buttoned in a timely fashion. 'Course, I've seen that button being continuously
open on the shirts of large people, esp. when they are seated.
The band is wide enough to not require being uncomfortably tight with steel J-frame or smaller. And keeps butt tight up against the body,
so it's not sticking out. Just a thought.... TACC1

I am overqualified for a opinion on the matter. Howsomever, I will say if it wasnt for suspenders I probley would have been jailed for indecent exposuer most my life! I dont do a lot more walking than I need to anymore, so usualy my piece is in the storage bin between the seats of my truck. If I feel need to pack concealed its gonna be a model 40 simply in my pocket. I am high tech! In the boonies as you can see, anything go`s.
I used to have to open carry in uniform on my guard job for over 35 years. The last 15 or 20 of them I got by doing it with color coded suspenders that matched my uniform shirts. I wasnt a poster boy for our dept, but by that stage of my life I had the most whiskers on my job and was left contemptlessly alone by my betters.

That would be this era 1953 S&W M&P. Out of probley 30+ revolvers in my collection it probley is one of the cheapest I own, yet I seem to carry it the most as I probley dont like to scuff up my fancy ones. Just a .38 special but will cover the majority of my needs. Dont want to scuff up those pythons and colt SAA`s! The other picture must be my .44 special s&w 24-3. Actualy, I own more .44 specials than I do anything else. (7).

Feral, I think we are both too short for our weight. But I also think you are on the thin side compared to me. I am now 6'2" and weigh out at 266. Not much of that 266 is muscle these days. I am too old to run, too tired to walk very far at a time and certainly cannot fight like I used to. However, being as large as I am, people do not try to fight as much as they once did. Well...either that or they feel sorry for this old man.

Dunno bout that. I was 6ft 2"s in high school, have to stretch to make 6ft now. I do the line dance on 3 spins! One time many years ago I got down to 190 on the atkins diet and it almost killed me! My best weight seemed to be in the mid 220s many years ago. My wife is like 5 ft 11"s and has one daughter 6ft 3"s! Dad and a uncle were 6ft 5"s. I have a nephew 6ft 8"s. Our one grandson now 10, the doctors claim will be 6ft 8"s to 6ft 10"s. (The 6ft 3" daughters son).
Nothing seems to work for me anymore, exercise and dieting! I know the adkins diet could, but its a killer! Wife wont let me try that one.
Oh well. I got my woman so it doesnt matter as much now. She also has a problem, but she`s almost 17 years younger than me. It`s utah, ya know!

Merril, if you'll get your hand away from that shoulder holster I would tell you that you have a mighty pretty wife.:)

I'm only 5 10 and down to 215 from 275. The whole time I have used a CB-ST , a Mitch Rosen belt holster both at about 3:15- if I go forward towards the 2:00 it sticks into my belly, and backwards towards 4:00 it goes into my love handles. But I also use a belly-band- when driving I can just slide it to where it's comfy, or when standing I just spin it around to the 3:15. Belly-band is when I wear shorts that won't take a belt- now the other holsters, when wearing a belt, the belt does tend to cut into the ol belly-muscle some...you know, to get it tight enough to hold the weight of the pistol.

6'4", 240. I carry in a Don Hume JIT slide belt holster or IWB at 4:00, or wintertime it's my shoulder holster. I have a cheap Walmart holster fastened to the seat adjuster on the front of the Cherokee that my SW40VE goes into when I am driving. Tried small of the back for a bit till I sat down a bit too exuberantly, thought I broke a vertebrae so that was the end of that.

Feral, you give hope to this single 54 year old with that one. Maybe I DO need to move back to the state in which I was born...

At 6'2" (okay, 6' 1-3/4" nowadays) and yo-yo-ing anywhere between 265-285 (after dinner today, I'm betting on the higher number) I find a paddle holster to be the most comfortable. With 9 months a year of rain a light outer shell is almost a uniform up here. Buy it 4XL instead of 3XL and it covers up the 45 nicely.

Here is my solution to the concern.
I also am fat.
I had Rudy, at Black Hills make me a wide belt and holster for my M28.
It really is nothing but a fancy duty belt but it conceals well under an untucked shirt or a jacket.
It is really comfortable.
No! I don't wear both holsters at the same time-----the wife dared me.
Blessings
