Is anyone aware of a source (book, website, etc) for diagrams or drawings of cast bullets that show bullet dimensions? - based on the mould number?

something similar to what SAAMI shows for cartridges and chambers.

I have seen some images resulting from a Google search, but nothing so far from mould fabricators nor any shown in Lyman's Cast Manual.

Think it would vary based on lead type used. Part of the reason I don't have a particular fondness for Lyman moulds.

When you buy a mould - say like your H&G #68, does it come with the bullet length? or is that information available? I remember you had a CADD-like drawing of that bullet. From Mihec?

You can find the drawings on Castboolits, check the group buy sections. If you want, I can measure my HG68 clone castings. I've never seen a length posted, typically the only dimension I've seen posted is diameter, and with custom mould makers like Accurate Molds they base it on the alloy being used. Lyman moulds from my understanding are cut based on #2 alloy, and most get undersized bullets with wheel-weights. My experience was with a 452374 mould that cast .449", and I've been told it was my fault for using incorrect alloy. Perhaps my MP (Mihec) molds are oversized, but they cast perfect bullets for me.

thanks for the offer, but I can measure the bullets I have:D

well, I looked on that website earlier - I did not look in the group buy section - never thought to look there:rolleyes:

just looked again - and found some drawings - thanks

Older mfg's changed cherries and designs often. That is one of the reasons bullets get sized. Ideal no longer means this is what yours will be.

The Third Edition of the Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook gives dimensional differences for some of their moulds, based on a different alloy used from their recommended Lyman #2 alloy. The chart is at the top of page 58...

Beartooth Bullets has some info on theirs. Mostly LBT molds, but some Lyman, I think. LBT might have some on their website.

Cast Boolits is probably the best source of info on that subject.

A guy makes custom molds for a very reasonable price out of aluminum, brass, cast iron, whatever. I saw it on the internet and I'll try to find it.

I am not looking for molds, just looking for dimensions of cast bullets that are in the load manuals, such as Lyman's #358311, #358429, #358665, #452460, and #452630 (and others).
The dimensions might help distinguish the differences between them and explain some of the differences in the load data.

hey, we have 6 inches of snow and the melt has begun.
trying to do something to avoid the mud and ice:D

I only have the 4th edition. I didn't see any charts.
I try to collect older versions of the manuals and handbooks - I'll track down a 3rd edition. I see free pdf downloads out there - but they want me to sign up and join something - not doing that yet.
