Tim Brandt of CCI Ammunition talks about the brand new CCI Quiet-22 LR ammo. At 710 feet per second, this bolt-action ammo is accurate out to 50 yards and great for varmint hunting.

From the CCI info page: ideal for bolt-action and single shot .22 LR rifles ... These cartridges may be used in semi-automatic firearms, however manual cycling of the action may be required.

At 710 fps the ammo is too weak to reliably cycle just about every semi-auto .22 - that's why Brandt calls it "bolt-action ammo."

as soon as i see them available i'll give them a test. the only ammo i've had which wouldn't cycle are the powderless ones (super colibri), and winchester super x subsonic which would cause the rifle to double and triple tap on a single squeeze.

I was single shotting my 15-22 the last time I took it out because I forgot all my magazines so I don't mind trying these at all! I saw a review of these a few weeks ago & I thought they were awesome so I'll get some.

If I can get my hands on some of this, I think I might test using this ammo with my 15-22P pistol bolt in my rifle... with the lighter weight pistol bolt this may be the perfect combination.

That's an interesting possibility.

I bought a 1000 rounds from Midway.
My girls are 8 & 10. I think noise and muzzle blast induce a flinch just as fast as recoil.

My kids have only shot 22’s. And we have used a suppressor for most of that.

The can works on my Spikes .22 and I had a Savage Cub threaded as well as a Ruger MK3, and lastly a Marvel’s 1911 .22 conversion.

I tried the Quiet ammo in the 1911 .22 conversion and it would not cycle.

To me there is little difference in CCI Quiet and CCI CB’s. They are both quiet and neither will cycle a semi auto. And both expensive, as sub sonic ammo is as well.

For me sub sonic Long Rifle with a suppressor is the most useful.

If you don’t have a “can” I think the CCI Quiet ammo is useful for training or woods bumming. It does pack a little more punch terminally than CB’s, so I guess that is an advantage.
