A friend of mine told me to get a Washington State CCW, they are recognized by more states than our home state of Idaho.
So my wife and I go down and fill out the app. and pay our fee, but can't get fingerprinted at that time.
Yesterday afternoon I turned up at the jail during the time frame set aside for fingerprinting CCW applicants.
Waiting in line was a nicely dressed lady about my age (40's) and a couple of gang banger types. I guess the bangers wanted to get their permits before the new prez outlawed them and before they got criminal records of their own.
Anyway we waited about 20 minutes and a gorgeous young blonde showed up, also to get fingerprinted her CCW.
After about another 20 minute wait the jailor came out and said "Due to booking into the jail the time for fingerprinting may be to short to allow all of you to be processed."
The bangers got up and left, I guess they couldn't stand the heat, being that close to the jail and all.
So the jailor admitted the first lady in to be processed and the blonde and I started chatting.
I said "They're probably really busy with the increase in applications since the election"
She said " Yeah, I've been buying all the guns I can, I want to get my arsenal built up..."
Then we got to talking about hunting and Alaska. Turns out she's an avid hunter that pilots jets into Anchorage...
Anyway, thats when I got called into be processed. The jailor was friendly and wrapped it up in about 20 minutes.
It's really interesting to me how all types of people are deciding to arm themselves for whatever they think the future holds.
Are you guys seeing it also?

No nicely dressed Ladies in my story. When I got my CCW several years ago, I go the branch office of The Miami- Dade Sheriff. I didn't really know what to expect a Lady officer asked what I need and replied fingerpint. She threw back "What for" I expected the worst when I replied CCW. She smiled and said "We need more people like you out there." And continued to chat. Very favorable experience

I do see some diversity in CPL applicants when at the courthouse renewing my CPL. I don't see that same diversity at my range.

No one else there for CCW when I got my WA permit. The one that took my prints was a really cute Latina Police Cadet.

Now if we could get all the Washington CPL holders to join the NRA and the WAC(Washington Arms Collectors) we're likely be able to get something done on the Legislation front!

I renewed my WAC membership a couple of Years ago and the young lady who helped me made the commented that we were finally over 15,000 strong. She thought that was pretty good until I mentioned that we have something over 500,000 CPL holders in this State!!!

I saw quite a bit of diversity among the folks applying for CCW permits same day I did. The ladies taking the applications were very positive about CCW applications.

Number of applicants has increased so much in recent months that they have limited the number of new applications on each day, so that they can continue to issue new CCWs within the 90 days allowed by state law.

It was funny when i got ccl, there were more than 25 people in line but not waiting to get fingerprinted. As we stood there waiting i noticed that at least 1/2 were over the age of 50 and up.

I used to work on indoor ranges in Seattle. You'd be amazed at the diversity of people I saw coming through the door, not just once or twice but as regulars.

Young lady, a new hire, at a local bank, was required to get finger printed as part of her new job requirements. When she went into the Sheriffs office, she had to stand in line for 2.5 hours, and pay $15.00 to get printed. She was the only civil print application in line, all others where CCW's or Gun safety inspections (Registration) for buyers without CCW's. Sheriff now has a new digital camera for prints. Much faster and much clearer and neater.

I went to renew my handgun permit and CDL today. Permits are handled by the Dept of Saftey which also issues driver's licenses. I was surprised to find that there were almost as many people there to get/renew their gun permit as there were for driver's licenses.

Maybe what happened in November was more of a "wake-up call" than many of us might think!!!

*od, I hope so!!!

So folks heard reality calling after the election and started buying guns, ammo and getting carry permits. Old pro or newbie, one question remains: How long will the government let us keep them?

Just thinking out loud...

I think a whole lot of people are and we're just seeing what some of those people have been thinking about. Some of the rest of us aren't "That Slow" to learn. I've been flying my Flag 24/7 since my return to this Country in '71 because as far as I've been concerned we have/are is a period of "A State of War"!!!

Nah, I already have more woman than I can handle... but if I was still single.
Almost like every Alaskan's dream woman, a nympho who owns a liquor store.

The range I normally shoot at is where I also went for CHL. Both are pretty diverse. I don't remember any gorgeous blondes other than my wife.

Most of the African Americans that shoot there look like solid citizens, not gang-bangers. Sometimes some of the Hispanics look like gang-bangers. We've got lots of what could best be described as good old boys. All of these groups seem to handle their guns just fine.

The ones who consistently scare me with their gun handling are the ones who, if I was speaking in Texan, I would say look like Yankees.

Perhaps I've changed in my 22 years in Texas.

No offense intended to my fellow Yankees.

In Yankee, or maybe it's drill sergeant, I'd describe them as looking like college boys.

Generally they look very WASPish, clean cut, but clueless.

Just my experience, I'll try not to sterotype them.

I was the only one getting fingerprinted for CCW when I went, but it was a couple months before the election at a relatively small police station. They were 'nice' enough to hold the permit for the full max of 30 days, even though it had to have been sucessfully processed almost immediately.

The range does have quite a diverse looking cross section though.

I'm happy to see all kinds of people are willing to protect themselves and stand up for their rights.
I live out in the Idaho hills. Grew up here, but been lucky enought to roam all over the world. Decided this was the place for me, probably die on the same dirt road where I grew up.
Anyway, after living the way I do, it's pretty easy to lump all the folks in the big cities together as sheeple. Not sure if they can hold their end up, the Kalifornians that move out here aren't real good neighbors, for example. We tend to judge people on what they can do and how they handle themselves, not their appearance, their race or their college degrees.
Most of my friends out here just want to get let alone. I'm not talkin' just hillbillies, lots of professionals too. We never bothered with CWP's or how or where to pack a gun. I never carried a gun regularly, but can't stand the thought of losing the right to do so.
The worst thing is we've been to independent to be politically active. I tend to despise every politician I meet, the so called conservatives just a little less than the liberals. It's pretty tough to put up with their obvious B.S. I guess we thought that since we live in what's arguably the most conservative state in the union that we didn't have to get involved, to push back. It's always seemed like a huge waste of time.
That's all starting to change. I hope it works out.... hope it's not to late.
