I could not find the answer to this question either on the Gunbroker site or here on the forums. I am the current high bidder on a GB auction, and the max bid I entered is considerably higher than the current bid. Some time after entering the bid I thought that I should have bid somewhat higher.

The question: may I raise my maximum bid without the AutoBid feature raising the current bid to the level of my former maximum bid(hope that is clear)?? In other words, I want to raise my max without raising the current bid, and wonder if the AutoBid feature will recognize that I am the current high bidder and leave the current high bid alone.

Thanks, friends.

IIRC, you can increase your max bid without the system upping the current bid. It works just as if you were at a live auction and had it in your head to bid higher than you originally planned if required.

I agree with LVSteve as I have done it several times and just two weeks ago to get my new higher end .22 rifle. Increase your bid and good luck.

Snowman,
Yes you can bid higher, and you will show the two bids and amounts in the bid history, but in effect it will up your previous bid, as you will still remain high bidder even if someone comes above bid 1, but does not cross bid 2.

I have had instances where, after thinking a little more about it, I would have liked to lower my max bid. You cannot do that. Fortunately, that bid did not go any higher.
Good luck with the bid.

As long as you're sure that it's worth the new max.I once set a new max while running a high fever.I don't regret it now ,but I bought that gun a year or two early.

Many thanks to all who responded; I did raise my maximum and won the auction. I was hoping that I wouldn't have to pay as much as I did, but the price is probably still below the average for this particular gun in the condition it's in.

Thanks again, guys. This is a great forum.

Now that the auction is over, at least tell what it was!

It's a M34. For some time I've been looking for one to practice trigger control for my carry piece inexpensively. It's about the same size, so it should serve the purpose fairly well.

I'll try to remember to post photos after it comes in.
