Have any of you guys seen or own this J frame. I have attached a link to what model I am looking at. Did not know if this was a bit much for this gun or if it was a decent price for a 'tuned" 442 iykwim. I searched the forum and nothing appeared to have been posted about this yet. There is one local NIB for $700 which would be $650 with the current (ready to expire soon) rebate. Thanks for your help here.

I bought a 442PC back when they first came out. I can't recall if it was a Chattanooga model or not.

Mine had the clip grip on it and not the VZ but otherwise seems to be the same. I went with UM grips.

It seems I paid around $500 for mine so this might be a little high.

Best out of the box J Frame I ever bought though. When I carry a J Frame it is that one.

I definitely don’t need another J frame, but if I did I’d rather have a 432UC. Pass

I noticed one, think it was this model, at Bills Outpost in Maryville TN. Smith is located in Maryville and I just live the county over. I stop in Bills when I’m in town and it seems like there was one in the front case. I don’t remember the exact price but that price seems like what I remember or at least close to that.

I noticed it because I’d was 2 tone but then realized it was an air weight and I’m not interested in something that light. You could give Bills Outpost a call and ask. They’re very nice folks and excellent to deal with.

Look on the s&w website at the models they offer. I have the 642 performance center tuned one. I love the tuned action. They msrp for 649.

I would seriously take a look at the Lipsey's 442UC, 642UC or the 432UC and 632UC before purchasing that one. that line has several nice upgrades. IMHO, they are the best J available.

Appears to be the PC 442 Crimson Trace model with the laser grips swapped out for VZs and the price adjusted accordingly.

The trigger on those is a little better than stock. Otherwise, it's a plain old 442 -- a fine J, but I'll never buy another that doesn't have better sights for older eyes. YMMV.

As others have noted, I think the 442/642 UC series have it beat by a country mile...provided you get one of the good ones.

Bought a 442-1 last one, a "Pro Series." Cylinder is carbon steel while barrel is stainless. Color: Black.

It's an airweight and +P is painful to me, while wadcutters and 138 gr .38 spl are fine. It's a fine little, light carry gun. Bought mine from GrabaGun.com and it came with a $50 rebate, about $475 all in.
