I bought Federal 22 LR 325 rounds for $21.16 = 6.5 cents/round

3 box limit per person per day

They also had CCI Standard Velocity for $4.89 per 50rds, I think it was.

They were about $13 pre-COVID at WM. Same ammo, but different box graphics. I bought 5 boxes in the summer of 2019, just used up the first box about two weeks ago.

I shot some of the Federal ammo today. Everything liked it. I'll have to check my local Wally World tomorrow and resupply

Pre covid those were running about $17 at my local Wal-Mart. My guns love this ammo so I'm glad to be able to pick up a few when I go shopping.

A friend introduced me to that ammo a couple of box changes ago. As others have said, my guns all love the stuff, especially my K22 and High Standard semi-auto. I even use it my Shilen-barreled Winchester low wall. I try to keep plenty "in stock".

That's the going price for Federal AutoMatch at Walmart in these parts. Some recent lots are pretty good, with near 100% fire on 1st pull of the trigger. Others had failures to fire up to 4% in known good .22 firearms. The older black and white box version of the same product wasn't very dependable to go bang.

Dagnabbit, you young whippersnappers apparently have no idea of the value of .22lr ammunition. I'd never pay the outrageous price of 6.5 cents per round consarn it. Every one of the 150,000 .22lr rounds in my tool shed cost me less than a penny per round by cracky, and I'm not going to buy any more until the price drops to that level again, dadgummit!
Ptooi!
Sincerely.

(This type of post appears regularly in price-of-ammo threads, so I thought I'd try my hand at it. My apologies to cartridge curmudgeons everywhere.;))

About as good as it gets these days...

Leaned my lesson during the 1990s scare where they wanted to ban .22 rimfire ammo as "hazardous" because of the lead bullets. Bought several cases of Winchester SUPER-X and every time I went to Walmart bought 2-4 Federal or Remington 550 bulk packs.. They started out about $8.00 a box and by the time I stopped buying were about $14.00 during the 2010 scare...

I have enough for "awhile"...Bob

It's good ammo. I wish our Walmarts would start selling ammo again but no luck in Arizona.

Local Walmarts here have it for the same price with no limit. It may even come down a little soon but by then there may not be any available around here. One of the Walmarts haven't had any 22 for well over a year.

I found the same prices at my local WM today, but when I asked the guy what the limit was he told me I could buy as much as I wanted, the 3 per day limit was lifted. Looked like they had about 25 boxes of the Auto Match and 1 brick and 50 50 round boxes of CCI.

Sure would be nice if the local Walmart's here in SW Ohio would lift their ban on selling ammo.

anyone recall the 25 cents a box price when the quarter was all silver?
check it out, only one coin is now made of the material it was made of in 1965 - and it's worth more than face value at the recycle yard.

I don't remember the 25 cents a box 22LR ammo but I do recall paying 27 cents for a gallon of gas!!

I have a box of 22 shorts with a price of 17 cents...but it's not full. I used to pick up soda and beer bottles for the deposit and go buy 22 ammo with the money. sometimes we got LRs other times long or shorts if we couldn't find 'nuff bottles. LRs cost about 3 dollars a brick at Western Auto...Revelation brand(made by Federal) 150 bottles. Winchesters were preferred but they usually cost 4 dollars
