cheap suppressor?

I will agree that you guys are more Knowledgeable than I because you live in Ca. Let me relate a recent incident I had at Big 5 sporting goods! My friend wants an AR-15-22 S&W.
Big 5 had them on sale so we go to look and the guy hands me the gun and my comment was why do you guys only sell these without the muzzle flash hider, (cause we don't live in a commie state) his comment was as follows " The company headquarters is in Ca and hence all the guns they get are Ca. Compliant no flash suppresor and 10 round magazine, but since the young fellow didn't give what state he was in, I figured he could be in NJ or MA or Ca. Always better to be safe rather than sitting in a cop car handcuffed, lol!
With age you get wisdom I was offering that in my post!

Ranger98 likes his companies...
I like mine. You can put any 1/2-28 threaded thingy on. Including flash hider/suppressor, muzzle brakes, sound suppressors and more.
As to the OP original question... An A2 flash hider is probably the cheapest you can get. Yankee hill has some really cool ones. I have a nice brake that works great.

Well my .02 cent. A flash supressor is not a muzzle brake, although there is some braking action in some flash supressor. Let's break it down withou getting to techy on it:

Flash Supressor: A device that cuts down the flash of the rifle so
the shooter doesn't loose his night sights at night.
Some think it reduces flash so the enemy doesn't see
you, not so. This devise has slots or holes designed to break up the flame.

Muzzle Brake or Compensator : A device that reduces the felt recoil of the rifle by
directing gases that hit baffles in the walls of the
brake/compensator and pushes the rifle forward thus
eliminating the rifle's movement backwards towards
the shooter. Cuts down 40% to 70% depending on the
design of the brake/compensator. To many to name but a few
that really work are BattleComp 1.0, Jerry Miculek Compensator,
Jeff Cooper compensator, also SureFire's MB556AR, to name a few..

Suppressor : By definition, a can at the end of the muzzle that
attaches to the barrel with baffles inside that cut down
the expanding gases, using waffers and chambers to
cancell out some of the noise of the expanding gases.
Most have a certain amount of shots before the
waffers need replacing. This requires an NFA stamp.

Hope this helps... Keepem in the 10 ring quietly please... or not..

Before we send this young fellow to buy a flash hider/muzzlebrake or anything else wouldn't it be prudent to find out what state he is in? If he is in NJ,Ma,Ca, or a state with a ban on this item, you could put him in a legal jam!

Also for future reference, you can always send in your upper half to a shop or gunsmith like Adcofirearms and they can permanently attach on a compensator on your 15-22 to make it legal in states like NJ and NY.

Correct! This is the misconception that causes bedwetting anti-gunners to ban the installation of flash suppressors on "evil black rifles". That, and they make the rifles even more "scary looking".

Well, Aceman almost got it right. The last item should have been a "Sound Suppressor". Actually the guy who invented them called them silencers. Either terminology is correct, though in truth they suppress the sound, they don't silence it. And by the way, there is no such thing as a "Muzzle Brake Thingy". The flash suppressor is what is being sought! :)
