Anyone watching this? Into the third episode and it seems to be very well done and true to detail. The reactor personnel and the first responders never really knew what they were involved in!
Really thought Russia would have been on the ball with this st they didn’t want to acknowledge the severity of it.
Could be some real good reasons why we should not trust any of these other countries with nuclear capability

Good show....the bleak sobering reality of having to give up your life to save others was tough to watch. At the same time you feel the pride for your fellow man stepping up for his neighbors.

Makes me want to stop complaining about my job....those guys had a very bad day at work!

I stumbled across it a few days ago and am hooked. As with all TV drama, we don't know how close to the facts they are, but nevertheless, it has been chilling. I told my son about it, who works in the nuclear energy field and he said he was sure it would be a hot topic at their next meeting.

Chernobyl (Miniseries)

Gang, has anyone seen the new HBO series, Chernobyl?

Well... as far as how good it is... it’s the highest rated TV show of all time according to the IMDB. It is on episode 4 of 5 right now.

It is perhaps the single most moving and emotional show I can remember ever watching. I feel like this is one to go down in the history books and guys, you should see it. Period.

I just watched episode 4 and there are still tears in my eyes. Just passing this on gang,

-Jay

Very good series! It seems to me for as smart as they are they weren’t prepared? Really makes you stop and think?
Really felt bad for those first responding firefighters!
Wait till you see the problem with the miners!

Kind of wish I had HBO so that I could see this, as that accident has fascinated me for a long time. What gets me is how cavalier they were with safety during the test with a reactor that had a positive void coefficient and a graphite moderated design that nobody else thought was safe enough to operate but the Soviets.

But, I would also like to see a special done on the Japanese Fukushima disaster too, which in scale is almost as bad as Chernobyl and before it's cleaned up might even be as bad.

Watched the recent animal hunting episode, how sad but it had to be. I laughed at their make shift private parts armor!
I can’t believe, but do believe that they would not admit their ***k up and ask for assistance, then turn around and send humans upon that roof to clean it! Those people I have to give credit too or were they just stupid and being afraid of being shot?
I guess the next episode is the end? Very well done! ;)

The “bio-robots” who cleared the roof were soldiers who were given the choice of 90 seconds on the roof or 2 years in Afghanistan. I think the smart ones took Afghanistan.

I have never thought fission reactors were a good idea after the very early incidents and after 3 Mile Island and Fukishima its just a matter of time before something catastrophic truly happens. I also understand that not everyone lives within a couple miles of a hydro-electric dam. With exception to a half dozen years I've never known a moment when I didn't have light when the switch was flipped. I live a couple hundred miles from Hanford and folks are always concerned about its pollution getting into the Columbia River which would have dire implications. The brave souls that got Chernobyl under control were martyrs and no less important to the world than any more famous martyrs proceeding them. Excellent series and once again my hat is off to HBO.
