Anyone have any experience with the Chiappa 1911 style .22? They say their US made (Italian Company) and look pretty nice. Just wondering how reliable, accurate etc.?

Cheers;

I bought a GSG 1911 in 22. TO me, it looks better than the Chiappa, and is more like an actual 1911, including the grip safety, which is absent on the Chiappa. I believe it's a higher quality option for just a few bucks more.

+1 to Greg's comments. At least look at the GSG before making a purchase. I have been very happy with mine.

I've put the Chiappa side by side with the GSG at the range, and the GSG wins hands down. Bough tthe GSG.

I've had the displeasure of handling and shooting (or attempting to) the Chiappa 1911 - 22 on several occasions. When they were first out we test fired two of them, and they did not function, wouldn't feed, and wouldn't fire reliably, and wouldn't hit anything. 6 months later they were brought back and did seem to work, and accuracy was about what you would expect from a pot metal handgun. last fall they were brought back again, and literally fell apart in our hands, wouldn't feed an entire clip without a malfunction.

Don't waste your money on them.

The Chiappa is a fine 22 1911-style pistol if that's all you can afford. But if you can spring the extra bucks get a GSG.

Chiappa also makes a model called The Puma, it has wood grips. I sell that in my shop for $275, but I can't tell you anything else about it. I have come to believe the Chiappa name is= to junky gun though, after buying a couple of their 22 derringers. Cobra's derringer makes the Chiappa one look cheap and that is not good.

I've shot both the Chiappa and the GSG and had nothing but problems with both; the major problem seems to be a failure to feed.

I've got a GSG that's been perfect, my friend bought one after he saw mine and he hasn't had any problems either. Great for inexpensive practice since I carry 1911s.
I had a Mosquito for a while and it wouldn't run reliably regardless of springs or ammo.

Here's a pic of my GSG with my Springfield-
