I needed an excuse to post a pic of my Model 36 with this set of uncle mikes grips I got for $5 today. So today is now Chief Special Saturday. Post em.View attachment 784284
What I really like about them is that they don't interfere with case ejectionIf you are going to use rubber grips on a J Frame, Uncle Mike's are the best IMHO. They are small, do a good job filling your hand, while being light without the metal insert inside like Pachmeyer has. They also tend to be a little less sticky on clothing. They were very well designed and manufactured grips. Unless I am mistaken, I do believe the grips you are showing on your Chief's Special have long been discontinued, so hold on to them! I still have a few pair floating around somewhere for J's and K's if I recall.
Wow you bought two of them?I like the new ones as well as well as any from 1983-2000. Nice job Smith & Wesson, and thank you!
Next we need a new 3" model, please.
One to go bang, and one to save for posterity.Wow you bought two of them?
My 36-11 has a round count of about 500 rounds so far. It's not shown a hint of wear on it aside from the blast shield. It's my pocket carry, too. My favorite thing about it is that if it were to ever become problematic I'll just call up S&W and send it off for repair. I have a 637 as a back up or if I need something lighter to throw in my pocket. One to go bang, and one to save for posterity.
If I could find a 60 like that I'd carry it and shoot it all the time.Over the yers I've had a bunch of Chiefs Specials. I'm now down to only one, an R prefix NIB.View attachment 784589
You stole those grips! I'm not typically a rubber grip guy but those are the exception to the rule! What a beautiful piece!I needed an excuse to post a pic of my Model 36 with this set of uncle mikes grips I got for $5 today. So today is now Chief Special Saturday. Post em.View attachment 784284
Those grips looked familiar, so I rummaged through my parts drawer, and found what I was I was thinking might be some Uncle Mike's. I'm not exactly sure where I got them. Are these Uncle Mike's?I needed an excuse to post a pic of my Model 36 with this set of uncle mikes grips I got for $5 today. So today is now Chief Special Saturday. Post em.View attachment 784284
I too have found the hogue grips work great on my 60-7, they really absorb recoil better than all other grips for me.My most practical J-frame grip has been the Hogue Bantam. While it's small and doesn't cover the blackstrap, I've sound the softer paternal on the side panels actually seem to absorb snappy recoil from hotter rounds. I've used Uncle Mikes and my 43c came with the latest S&W version. They're good boot grips but I like the Hogues better.
