choosing a s&w revolver for a green beret for ccw.

When this Green Beret carries a concealed revolver its either a K frame 3" HB RB 65 or 64 NY-1. J frames are a 442/442-1 Pro. OWB is a model 58 or 4" 66/19. Generally I carry a 1911 still and my last one in Iraq 08' was a 1916 dated Colt frame.

S&W 66 2.5"

If a revolver is the gun of the day...

Then a S&W M66 2.5" is the studliest choice! Simply put, an M66 snub is a gun that epitomizes coolness! And, that's nothing to scoff at!

Best of luck!

Never call him a "green beret" they are always special forces. As for CCW the two I knew well enough to ask preferred the .380ACP Walther PPK for a body pistol, carried deep and unknown to everyone around them on operations, except for their team. That was Viet Nam era.

Who notes the S&W Model 60, the first Stainless Steel revolver was highly recommended for hotter climates.

I have to suggest a S&W 940. A U.S. 9mm revolver to complement a foreign 9mm beretta. Very fast to reload with moon clips.

Yes and no. US Army soldiers who have passed the Special Forces Qualification Course and are assigned to Special Forces units wear berets that are green in color. The term "special forces" (no caps) refers to all of the special operations soldiers of the world.

When I was in SF, we carried all kinds of things concealed, and we would have been in deep trouble if we'd gotten caught on post. Go figure...

I love your choice with that 58 .41 mag and the 1911. One heck of a revolver to take down a person and the 1911 is still the best fighting handgun ever invented. What round do you carry in the 58?

Stay safe and thank you for your service.

Sportsterguy,

My SD carry ammo is Winchester 175gr STHP. Practice ammo is a 215 LSWC with 8 gr Unique for about 950-1000 fps, the old police load which the sights are regulated for.

First, thanks for asking. I'm so tired of reading novels where the hero "takes off the safety on their Glock".

Like most, I agree that for your protagonist, you should consider a 2½" or 3" model 66. Six shots, easy to conceal.
