Ask a friend is he had any .32 S&W Long. He said he would look and bring them to me at the range. He gave me a bit over 200 cases. It was Christmas!

Now the question. Some of the cases are stamped "Wad Cutter", is there anything special about these cases?

Christmas in Aug. PART 2

The same friend knew I reloaded .30 Carbine and had been looking for some a couple of weeks ago. So he brought me 2 pounds of .30 Carbine cases.

I need better friends like yours! I was going to guess your 32 brass was made for the semiauto target pistols and may have a cannelure on the case to act as a "stop" to seat the bullets to the same depth in the case and prevent them from moving deeper when the action cycles......but I looked at the pic and see they don't have them, so not quite sure. I have some of that same brass that I use for a 30-1, but pretty much load SWC lead bullets only. Bill in MA

Bill,

Thanks for the information. Will check them tomorrow. They are back in the tumbler now.

These will be used in a 30-1 that I picked up last weekend. Planning on using it as a carry piece in the Official Florida Uniform of shorts and a t-shirt. Have some HBWC's and some SWC's and am leaning towards the HBWC's for the carry piece. Also thinking of turning the 30-1 into a .32 Magnum.

Fiocchi is the only company that head-stamped cases as wad-cutter. No, there is nothing different about them, load them just like any other brand.

All the cases are straight walled with no cannelure.

Had the brass fairy bring a full coffee can of assorted 45, 223 and 22s to me the other day. Left them on the deck but I don’t know who.

I bought 2 boxes of ammo yesterday...and a few once fireds. Got a box of 32 S&W long(Remington...and about 50 once fired cases. also bought 49 rounds Winchester 32-20. missing one round. and I found one to fill it on my desk here. $50 bucks at a yard sale...and I didn't even try to dicker with them. And no...no guns for sale. They offered me a bunch of mixed shotgun empties for free. I declined! Another fellow was there before me and got a box of 35 Remington for 20 bucks

Agree - I have had some of those. No different from any other 32 S&W Long case.

The wadcutter cases may have a bit less internal case wall taper to facilitate not deforming the base of the wadcutter bullet since it sits so deeply into the case. There should be no particular problem reloading them.
