My wife surprised me this christmas with an old gun. She obtained a Winchester 1892 38-40 wcf with serial number that corresponds to a birthdate of 1905. The rifle is in great shape, the barrel looks good. It did have a small dent on the magazine tube that I had to fix because the spring was getting hung up on it. I shot 50 rounds through it without incident. I have already bought some dies to start reloading for it. Out of curiosity does anyone have any idea what these things are worth?

. G8 , I have seen so many prices that I really don't know what they are based on besides condition and age. I am not really interested in selling it, and I am sure she paid more than that since it came from brother-in-law who had it from his dad. He was having some financial difficulty and so it went to a good cause. I had to soak the barrel in some Kroil to get the magazine screw out and I am working on the receiver screws to get it cleaned up more. Like I said , I plan to shoot some cowboy loads through this beauty. It will not be a safe queen. May need to consider getting a Ruger Vaquero to match the gun or maybe luck into a peacemaker
