I'm ready to buy a Cimmaron/Frontier, pre-war 5.5" in .357, to carry and shoot at the farm...not CAS or anything like that. looks good and several good reviews....I have a Colt SAA in .45 nickel 3rd gen. but I load lots of .38's and think it would be fun....any reason to not go this route? Thanks

If my Uberti-made 1873 Winchester reproduction is representative of what's produced in Italy, then I would say you're on firm ground. Mine, as well as others I've seen from Cimmaron, Taylor, and other importers, are well-made and strikingly attractive. I have a 5.5" 3rd generation Colt SAA in 357 that I've been thinking of selling to help finance the additional guns I'll need for Cowboy Action.

that’ll be an excellent choice. You’re using it as a working gun and not beating it up with fast draw and constant cowboy shooting. Should be perfect.

I can’t think of a single reason. Go for it!

You have a good taste, good to go !

I have a recent purchase (2019 I think) Uberti. It's the El Patron .45. In my humble opinion it's the finest fit and finish that I've ever seen out of the box.... The trigger is smooth and light. Maybe they did something special to the El Patron....(?)
I post this because I like to look at it a lot (I changed the grips just for fun):

Almost forgot.... it shoots as good as it looks.... amazing gun.

Mike... yup, it does clearly have a Wolff trigger return/bolt spring. I replaced the safety hammer/trigger with the old style (4-click) hammer and trigger and it still is smooth and light...Now, it has a TINY bit of creep because I'm too lazy to smooth out the trigger sear. I like it this way because it tells me just when it's going to break. FABULOUS GUN.

I have a pair of Pietta Cimmarons in 45 Colt. .357 is a great and versatile chambering, but I've never liked the feel of an SAA in smaller bores. They just don't balance like the 44/45 guns.

I had mine slicked up by Bob James in Phoenix, and they're great shooters.

I shot SASS with a pair of Cimarron Artillery Models until I received an inheritance and switched to third gen SAA's in 45 Colt. Loved 'em.

Did switch main springs for a lighter pull. Don't go too light!
