A friend of mine is going to Cincinnati tomorrow, and he would like to know if there are any "good" shops to visit. I wish I could go with him.

He's not really interested in big places like Gander Mountain.

He prefers smaller pawn shops - he is an old-school revolver person, and it seems like you are more likely to see old Smiths, Colts and Rugers at pawn shops.

I know of a of couple shops in my area where I can often find the odd S&W Model 15 or Ruger Security Six, and that's where he hangs out. Anyone know of shops like that in Cincinnati?

Thanks in advance.

I lived in Cincy from 1992-96 and at that time the city imposed gun laws beyond what the state mandated, like AW bans and waiting periods. As a result there were no gun shops in the city limits.

Don't know about now.

I grew up there and do not recollect any gunshops, gunshows or advertisements for them in the city limits, but I was not looking bac k then. Gun show list -USA has posted a gunshow in Sharonville just north of Cincinnati next weekend. An internet search shows slim pickings outside the city limits. Maybe Dick knows a place or two in Kentucky?

On the west side of Cincinnati, there's Arms and Accessories. At the corner of Harrison Avenue and North Bend Road. They have been busy lately. The last time I was in there to get a lower reciever, there were a few revolvers on display.

I think Costello's Guns is still in North College Hill. I haven't been there in a few years.

I personally would avoid Target World like the plague.

Old Milford Gunshop in Milford, in Loveland Shooter's Supply, in Norwood the Hawken Shop, in S. Lebanon Country Attic, Peterson's in Sharonville (owner is a bit of a grump but he does have nice Smith's now and then), Clubhouse Arms in Morrow, north of Morrow on 22-3 is Hitchcock Arms, there is a place in Newtown called One Shot (I think).

If he can swing onto US 50 and go through Hillsboro on his way to or from WV there is a nice hardware store with a decent gun section, Town & Country. I heard Costello's in N. College Hill was sold but is still there under a new owner. In Newport (right across the river from downtown) is Garretts, he is more of a gunsmith but is worth checking (I found a nice .32-20 M&P there last year).

Costello's gun shop is now North College Hill Gun Shop, (NCH). They usually have a small collection of used firearms. They have ammo, but are limiting sales to 1 or 2 boxes - stating that if someone buys a new pistol that they have to have ammo for it.

We live in an anti-gun region. Not sure why, but its the way life is around here. There are a couple of so-so shops in N. KY. Shooters supply has a range, as does Marks, but neither will stun you with inventory, even on a good day. There's another, RLC that normally has a few guns. These aren't normal times, so you've got to really get lucky to find a goody.

The show at the Sharonville Convention Center is normally packed and lousy, unless you seek AK and SKS stuff. Its a small show, maybe 200 tables. Thats past the limit for the venue, parking is awful and recently they've had terrible crowds.

Sorry I'm so negative about the prospects here. I travel out of the region for guns and gunshows.

will5a1 gave you good info. Be sure to have him stop at OneShot in Newtown if he's still here tomorrow (closed on Mondays), as I have several guns on consignment there!

and if he goes to town and country tell him to take plenty of money, those boys will not deal

Loveland Shooter Supply is a nice place, they usually have a selection of older revolvers in the back in the counter on the left. I have been in there twice the last 2 weeks, he had alot of new guns but he has sold alot too.
