I saw Eric Clapton last night in Charlotte.Fourth time in the past 37 years. He did'nt play as much blues as before but that's ok.He's got so much to chose from. At 67 yrs. old,he's still absolutely the best guitarist . After watching him on the large screen (we were sitting in the nosebleed section) ,my fingers were worn out when it was over. If anyone reading this likes Clapton,I highly recommend seeing him on this tour.I've read this is possibly his last.

Hey' MC* .. Yah' I used to worship him back in the Day.
I just played my "No Reason to Cry" album the other night,
his performance & solo' at the Bob Dylan 30th anniversary
concert still gives me the chills.
Seen him for like the 7th time about 5 years back, although
a great show as always, just didn't have the same magic
as he did back in the 70's & 80's ... or maybe I'm just
gettin' old.
.. Here's an old snap shot of me at the Slowhand
tour, 77' or 78'?
.. still had hair. :)

Sunshine of Your Love was a cornerstone in the evolution of my taste in music. I think I was 14 when I first heard it, and I still crank it up whenever I hear it on the radio. Clapton, Bruce, and Baker, it don't get much better than that.

His "Unplugged" album is one of my all-time favorites. About as much fun as you can have fully clothed, kind of like hearing the Stones' "Honkytonk Women". I never cared much for the original recording of "Layla", but the one on the "Unplugged" album was a revelation.

Yeah, yeah, I'm old.

My favorite guitarist for sure. Saw him on the Journeyman tour in Tampa too many years ago. Still have the tank top I bought, which didn't fit for a long time, but now after a quintuple bypass 10 months ago it fits again. Yeah, I knew there had to be an upside to that little misadventure. I actually didn't dig it out until I read your post...so thanks.

One of my all time favorites also.:)

I am very glad he is still with us today as he had some very troubled times in his life.

For Your Love with the Yardbirds, Sunshine of Your Love, Badge and I could get lost in White Room with Cream! Billy Powell, the late pianist for Lynyrd Skynyrd loved Layla so much he named his daughter after the song. I have to say though that I really prefer early Clapton to the later unplugged.

I liked his old stuff and listened intently. His later stuff, as I have referred to as "Clapton does elevator music", I can't stand.

It seems we always grow, change, and get better(mostly). Not as far as music is concerned, in my opinion. I fear the best is behind us. An uncle of mine passed at 37 years of age and was a spitting image of Clapton.

I have always considered Clapton to be the preeminent guitarist of all time. His "Unplugged" album is my favorite. But, I have found another English guitarist that equals him-Mark Knopfler. Watch 'A Night in Longdon' on Youtube, and 'An Evening with Mark Knopfler' and see if you don't agree. The number of great musicians that have come out of England is phenomenal!

Eric Clapton is number one songs on my IPOD when I walk around the Bagram Airfield every morning, I risk the wrath of the MP's just so I can listen to my IPOD with headphones on!!. Can't wear headphones you might not hear the rocket that is going to blow you up).

With the possible exception of about anything by Stevie Nicks
my 2 favorite songs are Layla...

Speaking of Stevie - Fleetwood Mac is on tour again :)

I didn't know this until just now and it turns out that we'll be near Spokane at the end of June :) :) :)

Eric no matter what his other belefs and morals are he has, and still will go the last mile for gun rights. I saw a TV show of Anthony Bourdain (the NYC chef) Bourdain was at Eric's place in I think Tx. Bourdain who has been like a lot of people who grew up in the inner city is certainaly not a avid shooter, However his visit to Eric's ranch was full of shooting about every kind of weapon including full auto arms...Bourdain was having a ball and seemed to have a natural talent for the gun sports.....Maybe he has changed his mind a bit..We tend to want clones of our selves and don't want to tolerate those who are not as devoted to the 2nd admendment as we are.....I'll take any help we can get......Heck the Motor City Madman was not the poster boy for conservative politics untill the last 15 years.......He unlike any of us has the ears of non-believers ....Go for it Eric....Shoot those guns. eat that red meat and tell it like it is...We need the help!!!!! If all gun owners and those who profess 2nd admendment rights had voted..well who knows......All the divisions in our ranks didn't help very much...We need to close ranks and contrimue the fight for our rights..That certainly includes the second admendment.
