Clean/Restore Plastic Colt Woodsman Grips

Looking at a Series II (1948-1955) Woodsman Target. Complete package however looks to have been stored in a damp environment. Box has some mildew and original plastic grips are dull and have a milkish tinge to them. Before making a bid on it I would like to know if the grips could be restored and if so how? Flitz tube says it is for metal, plastic or fiberglass. I use the usual Flitz and Renwax routine to clean up used guns I buy.

I have used Flitz successfully on many sub-straights including Plastics and good results were achieved. I usually use my hands and a Microfiber cloth but on really bad pieces I have used a Dremel with a felt or cotton wheel. START out by hand and see how it goes before using power tools.

Hard to tell if your soon to be grips will fare well as you only are seeing a photo right now and we can not see them at all. PERSONALLY I prefer not to buy firearms that have not been treated or stored well. It just becomes another project and usually winds up costing more in the long run than one in descent condition. Original parts for these old guns can be hard to find and are definitely costly. Been there - done that!
