Clean it, and clean it well. There will be metal particles from the milling processes left in the action, chamber, and barrel. Get all that **** out of there along with the factory rust prohibitive gunk. Once that is done lube everything up and put a few rounds down range. Then clean the barrel again and put a few more rounds down range.

There should have been cleaning/lube instructions with the rifle. Read them. There are a lot of good cleaning/lubing YouTube videos. There are also a lot of break in vids and opinions on barrel break in requirements available on various AR forums.

Enjoy your new friend, and keep your credit card handy.

It is always advisable to give a new or used firearm a field strip, clean, and lube. It also provides the opportunity to give the firearm a visual inspection and function check.

It is the same as cleaning any standard AR. Make sure bolt and trigger are "moist" with oil. You don't want it wet, this will create a carbon, oil, lead pudding that will just do more harm than good. But as you would imagine running the gun dry isn't good either. I would HIGHLY recommend Frog Lube for you tactical firearms. I run it on my M&P and it makes the gun look great, function great and smell great!
